The Hillclimb configuration is the ultimate D4, with over 350hp in a AWD chassis weighing just over 425kg. Even the base Trackday configuration is still potent, with over 170hp, packaged in a car that weighs slightly more than 400kg. Despite the light weight and small size, the D4 is designed to share the track with much larger cars, and is overbuilt for a car of its weight class. Don’t forget to subscribe also the Oregon Raceway Park Circuit, where Palatov Motorsport conduct most of their real world testing. This has enabled direct comparison with logged data and video from the real car.
Thank you Slow Motion and everyone who helped make this vehicle the 4 wheeled awesomeness that it is. For those of you who have not yet driven this car, do yourself a favor and take it (there are a few different configurations) around your favorite track.
1 year later we are working on the 2018 Palatov D4. Main changes regards several little details, mostly for graphics changes, but something affect also the physics, like the new rear wing for the Trackday class, very closed to the one of the Hillclimb model with less surface. The real car now is equipped with a new dash and optional new rims. I'm not yet sure if and when the project will be finalized, but at the moment the whole new "structure" is ready and also the new physics for the new rear wing as well as the full update to scratches and rain... but we are really at the early stage.
great news I love how you don't let go of the mods thanks for all your hard work and the great mod you give us for free!! you give a lot of passion and time for our greatest pleasure! big thanks @Slow Motion
Thank you guys. You know the Slow Motion Modding Group is an open group and, depending of the needs and the availability of the participants, we try to do our best. Chris "redapg" is now taking care of few weird aspects we found this time applying the full raindrops effect to the driver suit, also because driver is not only "driver" but also its animation. The 2018 structure will be very closed to the current one, with the Trackday class (and its "duplicate" for sim leagues needs, the Trackday Multiplayer class), the Custom class (that is in the end a class for giving to potential owners of the real car, the opportunity to test any available option, like the turbo engines, different rear wings, etc... and the Hillclimb class, the monster 4wd. There will be 3 available cars, solid colors and logos like the real world cars... atm the new templates are not yet the final ones of course. Our paint team is very busy for a few in updating helmets + suits + gloves + visors and Art team of the GP3, so it would be nice if somebody wants to share a sketch for a body design, fantasy or what else, that together we could add to the new 2018 classes that will benefit of the 4k resolution. Just an idea.
Quick update: we are finalizing the new 2018 dash, made by AMS and in use into the 2018 D4, but we have a lot of things to do with a great care to match the real car and for avoiding any not wanted different behavior from the old build... I mean, working on physics for tires or for new rear wing (for instance ), could be very "dangerous", because we must take care of the previous performances and the little range of "action" we have to match the little different new behavior of the real car: it takes long time. I have also updated a little the FOV and eye point in cockpit that better harmonizes the mod to the current standard and lets better watching the dash. WIP picture:
Quick update: 2018 dash for all classes and also new positions for trackmap + full working ignition + fully working headlight switch -----> done! And a lot of other "little" things for the physics, without altering the performances and behaviour of the mod vs. the real car. Of course the new 2018 rear wing will increase the grip of the classes that use it, because it affects the downforce of the floor too. Mr. Palatov gave detailed info on it and I must say the new 2018 Trackday will be much more stable in the rear but also much more stable in turning at fast speed: it surprised me!
Checkered flag for the new build 1.9x... new body is finished, thanks to the 3D changes made by Chris "redapg" and I just finished the new template and few skins for details. After latest test the mod will be ready for the public release.
