You might be onto something. If thats the case, then that would perfectly explain the input-lag. I haven't noticed Windows sounds, but then I can't remember having pressed other buttons than escape. Will try and see whatever happens.

Could somebody else also confirm this behaviour?

@demerzel @Rony1984 I doubt it has much to do with input lag. That bug with windows sounds in fullscreen has existed with rF2 since the DX9 days. It still runs in fullscreen, but you need to alt-tab once to get rid of those sounds. I got input lag until the build that fixed fullscreen mode two weeks ago, since then everything is more or less input lag free.

Regarding performance, it has constantly improved, but still some way to reach DX9 levels. What worries me a bit is that empty track performance (0 opponents) is close in performance (within 10%), but the margin grows bigger when you add opponents on track. Empty track performance is good as it is IMO.

DX11 start grid Silverstone, no opponents: 107 FPS
DX11 start grid Silverstone, 20 opponents: 54 FPS

DX9 start grid Silverstone, no opponents: 120 FPS
DX9 start grid Silverstone, 20 opponents: 65 FPS

I can confirm that fullscreen works now but it shows inconsistent behaviour: -
    - Alt tab sometimes work sometimes doesn't
    - Sometimes full screen is not applied after launching single player mode. Changing video settings back and forth fixes it although meanwhile the position of the buttons do not match what is displayed. They are highlighted when passing the mouse pointer over the functional position.
    - Closing even the launcher seems to be the most robust way to properly close rF2. Restarting single player without closing the launcher seems to trigger full screen not applying and causing above described behaviour. I would need to properly test this since it doesn't seem straightforward to reproduce problems.

Last night I saw 80 avg 93 max 62 low FPS on NOLA USF2000. All video settings in RF2 are set to the max except for AA4. I4770 24ram Sapphire Rx480 8ram, triples, Eyefinity, 5900x1080 (no multiview), Post at None. I then ran a lap or two with Post at Low and got relatively the same results. I then triend Post Medium and it was awful. At one point the car simply stopped for about two seconds and when it resumed I was way off the track. It did this a couple of times on the same lap...I couldn't get any log. The attached log is with Post none. I'm really not seeing any improvement day to day, but maybe I'm not supposed to see anything dramatic now.

Well, if it isn't related to fullscreen, then I just hope Studio397 is investigating and find a cause. Regarding DX11 performance with lots of opponents, I had noticed this too and it worries me as well. I am groundlessly pessimistic here, as I'm no expert on the matter, but I fear that in the end, DX11 might prove to be more resource-hungry than DX9. They're doing a great job on optimizing, a beautiful gradual improvement, but as it seems to me, not with the big chunks that would be needed to bring DX11 on par with DX9 in a scenario with lots of cars in view. Maybe they're reaching the technical boundaries of this engine. It would be a shame if so, because for me, Rf2 typically shines in simulating large fields of various classes.

I have 3x144 hz to gaming and one 60 hz monitor to my telemetry.
Video sync on with fullscreen I get 60 fps to all of my monitors.
Video sync off with fullscreen I get unlimited FPS to my 3x 144 hz monitors and 60 FPS to my telemetry monitor.
Conclusion = fullscreen does not work in rF2 as it should.

Through all this beta release I have not had any problems with fps,I've actually had the best performance compared to dx9,no stuttering or tearing.
With the latest release I'm down about 20fps,from a solid 84fps,but the biggest issue is the fact that the fps isn't stable anymore for me,constantly dropping to below 60,the tearing and stuttering is back on pit road.
This is with silverstone and the FR 3.5 dx11 latest build.
I'm on holiday for a week today,so No biggie,as I'm sure there will be another build released for when I get back, keep up the good work s397

I got some update tonight; I think it may have been just workshop stuff. The update script says 365960. Anyway, I ran tonight at Barber MS USF2000 with all graphics elements maxed out and Post set to Medium. I74770/24ram/Sapphire RX480/8ram/triples 5900x1080 eyefinity no multiview. FPS was in the 50s. But I saw something tonight that made me stop. I'm not a big graphics person, But it had rained earlier in the day apparently and the track was still somewhat wet. Wet enough that the cars were throwing up a spray. The sun came out and it was around 9:30 a.m. I was behind an AI trying to see through his spray when the sun hit the fence alongside the track just right and it projected the shadow of the chainlink pattern onto the spray. I didn't expect that.

With the latest build I somehow get a lot more stuttering than before, especially when driving on the straight-away next to the pit, even when the GPU load is ony around 40%-60%. Tested with the updated Mills and C6R.

p.s. the lag I wrote about previously seems gone. I therefore get heaps of screen-tearing, which I didn't before.

Is this authentic? Or did you mean you didn't expect to see something so unauthentic?

For me this latest dx11 is near identical with dx9 at 69-70fps average in Medium setting.
First time ever dx11 is not slower :) , but circuit is Nordschleife Tourist Autumn v2.01 which is not by ISI/S397.
7680 x 1440 in angled multiview. GTX980 2 way SLI 100-95% GPU load, DX9 SLI compatibility Bits 0X02402004 as recommended by Ari. DX11 sli compatibility bits as per Nvidia and based on driver 382.05

DX9 on the left, DX11 on the right
    dx9 with latest dx11 - GTX980 2 way sli.JPG
After messing around with SLI compatibility bits for weeks, unless you get one which can really throttle up your GPU both in DX9 and in DX11 to 90%+, I think your result will be more influenced by under utilization of the GPU and not DX9 vs DX11 per se.

Dang, this graphic thingy is complex for me :)

I never use sync Ari. I assume my Nvidia will do its own G-Sync thingy as my triple display is G-Sync capable.

BTW I got 2 x GTX1080Ti from Zotac. Tripple fan version. Now I got problem, to do SLI with this fat 3 pcie slot sized GPU due to the fans, I need to remove my PCIE-SSD on the most bottom slot #6, otherwise cant fit the 2nd GTX1080Ti .... I have only 6 slot PCIE X99 motherboard, so got to buy SATA type SSD for OS drive... and re-install Windows 7...

The GTX1080Ti is better than I expected vs GTX980 in 2-way SLI. I capped it at 120FPS, only single GPU needed at nearly all best setting on both DX9 or DX11 and down to 80ish FPS with DX11 Post Effect at MEDIUM....single GPU. So I think my 27" triple display with less pixels than your 34" supported by GTX1080Ti 2-way SLI should do well as in capped 120FPS in PE at near best. For now the PE LOW is already too much over-bright road sign ...LOL.

A stupid question if I may.
PE is Post Effect, does that mean the majority of its GPU load it is only more for visual playback and not real time visual while playing ...? There is no Depth of Field while playing the game, only those crazy bright road sign I notice most. Yes, I never yet try near evening or night track yet.

    Thanks Ari

Not all MBO`s can run PCI-e @ 3.0 x16 x16 when PCI-e SSD is used. You must check that your system is running PCI-e @ 3.0 x16 x16 not PCI-e @ 3.0 x8 x8. This is not a huge bottleneck in most of the games (about -5-10 fps) but it may have bigger effect in rFactor 2.
You need also 3000 mhz memory or better to get max out of your 1080Ti SLI.
Why re-install Windows 7? You get better gfx performance with windows 10. You can buy windows 10 Pro for 22 usd from Play Asia : http://www.play-asia.com/microsoft-windows-10-pro-3264-bit-oem/13/709747?ref=summary&sc1=89747149 . Make clean install of Win 10 Pro it is much better.

You can find out about PP here:

    Hi Ari,

Aha...your reminded me of the PCIE sharing thingy if SSD in on PCIE lane too... thank u thank u.
All this IT stuff to complex for me.
My X-99 Asus Deluxe user manual wrote for triple slot as in triple SLI used, I still can get x16/x16/x8.
    It has PCIe 3.0 x16 5 slots and 1 slot of PCIe 2.0 x4 , total 6

Anyway I need to stop using my Windows7 OS loaded PCIe-SSD to put priority the 2nd GTX1080Ti due to space, so I hope I am maxing the best I can for the PCIe bandwith for graphic only.

I am a creature of habit, I will never switch to Windows 10 even for free, unless for some reason games don't work anymore on W7.
I hate learning new OS lay out and 101 yada yada.:D

This 2nd PC of mine was built in 2014 actually for video work, so i7 5960X it carry. 8 core does do wonders for video rendering but for games its kinda slow at 3.0 Ghz and Asus BIOS built-in boost it to 3.8ghz . Kinda sad since no car sim games can use all 8 cores.

My daily #1 PC is an oldie 6 core i7 3930K and I love it more than this 8 core, i dont know why. Creature of habit I guess.

3000mhz DRAM I think its overclock class already yes ? 1.35V
I am on 2666 mhz 1.2Volt and I dare not do manual OC, let Asus "optimum" boost in BIOS ....me IT dummy.:(

    Thanks again Ari.

Okey since this is probably getting out of topic...me end it here yah.
Not polite to discuss non DX11 thingy , for other members.

The problem isn't learning a new OS, the problem is updates that fix 1 thing and break 10.

No apparent changes. Cockpit view still behind DX9. Trackside performance inconsistency in my end persists. I had to repeat Magnificent park benchmarks because trackside score was horrible. After repeating the benchmark, normal good results were obtained while the rest of the views showed fps consistency between runs.

Its amazing how much "regular" users contribute to this dx11 update development by giving detailed feedback. Thank you for making a better sim to everyone
