"I remember maniak mentioning something about it a little while back?" I meant just the nuerburg layout like he said... nm i have it now easy enough too look thx djc and tosch
Server up with Apex Modding GT3's and the VLN config. 30 hour test day. live timing at the following link http://pitlanescom.liveracers.info/Live/?server=Pitlanes.com GT3 "Pitlanes.com GT3" GetMod enabled. Enjoy.
The track comes with hdr profiles. I have adjusted all materials to work best with these profiles. The automation profile can't create a realistic lighting, especially for the VLN layout, because of the low sun elevation in October.
I don't care what the cynics say... I'm am totally in love with the look of this sim. I've never seen anything quite like it in terms of life and gritty, "unpolished" (a compliment in my world, mind you!) realism. Don't get me wrong, I know it's "polished" in the sense that a huge amount of work has gone into it. It's in a more general sense, I feel, where everything doesn't look as artificial and digital, like many other sims/racing games. I love it!
Has nothing to do with materials or reflections, it's just that automation HDR is more or less unusable in cockpit. Change the view to bumper cam (or use HDR profile) and you see all whiteness is gone. ISI mentioned few weeks ago they are tweaking HDR to look better in cockpit, some interesting changes, unfortunately they tend to come at slow pace. The track is as good as ever, 1.99 was already fantastic in terms of graphics, no problems to report.
The look of the trees in thos two screenshots are unbelievable... I'm speechless.... THANK YOU guys for your work
can anyone put up another download of this? Mediafire is extremely slow this morning. It will take 6 hours to complete the download. I'll be 70 by then.
mm.. very nice pic hex I know that corner like I know "virtually" all the other corners ..it's the last hiccup where 8 minutes of intense concentration can all go tits up Tosch & DJ, thanks again.. those trees do look amazing, & each lap is like a tiny adventure, it's just special
Yes, thank goodness trees were paid close attention (with awesome results) for a track with thousands of trees. If the standard ugly ones were used, it would distract from all the hard work put into the realism of all of the man-made elements.

DJC had the ingenious idea to create a gmt file that includes all tree materials and place it at the beginning of the scn file (later loaded gmt's don't overwrite the material settings). We have no max files and 3dSimEd can't export billboards (messed up rotation axis), which makes working on the trees almost impossible. With that solution we were able to put all season textures (trees, bushes, etc) in one central folder instead of having a set of textures in each layout folder (smaller filesize). As a nice side effect I could improve the material settings (specular reflection) of the trees without destroying the forests. It's a bit tricky, because you need good bump maps and some time to create suitable spec maps, but when it all comes together it can look very good.
