Mills needs some turn names + 66 Monaco turn names...

Here's the Monaco list, I made a couple additions/corrections based on a purely English view:

Sainte Devote
Beau Rivage (not sure when this kink was given a distinct name; maybe not in the 60s)
Massenet
Casino (or Casino Square)
Mirabeau (aka Mirabeau Haute but I have never heard anyone say this)
Station Hairpin
Mirabeau (aka Mirabeau Bas but again, never heard this in English)
Portier
The Tunnel
Harbor Chicane (also just "the chicane")
Tobacconist (Stewart and Hill always referred to it as such; not sure when it switched to Tabac)
Gasworks Hairpin

Id really like one hairpin named after my real name: Theodorikoamphitheatrozaharokalamopoulos. It would be usefull for quick reference.

(bends in Monaco should be called by their original French naming as you did, so its Gasometer than Gasworks, otherwise Tabac should be Tobacco shop imho)

Nickname of Ioannis Meimaridis R.I.P. 1945-1971.
The biggest talent of its generation in street circuits, probably one of the top five ever in Greece, died when his Alfa Romeo GTAM (the Americana as it was called) crashed on the medieval walls surrounding the citadel of Rhodes, making it the last circuit (the most picturesque in greece) to be held around them.

 

I see what you're saying, but---we aren't necessarily using the translation of the original (French) names, but rather what it was called by English speakers back then; there's a slight difference.

Otherwise, "Tabac" would just be "Tobacco". Tobacconist, as they called it, means "someone who runs a tobacco shop."

However, if the last hairpin was called gazomètre in French, then the direct translation works--or at least, that's what they said back in the day: "Gasworks Hairpin".

Eau rouge has a dirrect English translation but original ...sounds nicer?

 

I know some people would like a turn named for Don Scurlock. I know he's one of the driver names in the Brabham field, but it would be nice to include the name into a turn somewhere.

If anyone needs an explanation why, just ask.

 

Maybe could use his forename instead of his last name. "Don" is a nice sharp word name for a turn.

Yes, but no one, and I mean no one, EVER says "Red Water" is the name of the turn. The turn is called Eau Rouge in every language just like how a tsunami is a tsunami. The original word is used everywhere.

Conversely, in the 60's, Graham Hill (and others) can be heard referring to the turn as "the Tobacconist corner" and "the Gasworks hairpin". If you watch the short clip I posted in this thread, you can see those exact names used in that documentary too.

Maybe the difference is that you live right there in Europe, and your country's official language is not English. From my American perspective, having only experienced Grand Prix racing in English, whatever the English speakers say becomes set in stone for me--if it's good enough for Stewart and Hill, it's good enough for me. But surely, the French promoters did not say "The Gasworks Hairpin," and perhaps, neither did Greek spectators

I'm not sure exactly what ISI is going for here. If they want to give corner names to appeal to the English speaking market, then I strongly believe that I'm right (regarding the names I gave). However, the more I think about it, if ISI decides to be historically accurate (and really, why shouldn't they?), then each turn should have the historically and locationally correct names--which means that Monaco should only have French names--no English.
