Marcel has been a part of simracing for, well, as long as I've been a part of RaceDepartment, and that's longer than I want to think about. He has been racing, organizing, modding etc. so I'm sure he won't leave rF2. It does make me worry a bit though.
I guess he saw the proverbial handwriting on the wall with Motorsports Games basically being out of money. Very sad news indeed. Maybe we could get Elon Musk to buy Studio 397? God knows he's got the money to do so.
It's peanuts for him Anyway he likes technology a lot and being rF2 a complex simulation he might be interested! If someone knows him, give him a call
I am sad about this as well. But we should be thankfully to him, he moved rF2 into the right direction. Long needed improvements came. Without with all respect to ISI, but in their (old) hands rF2 would already be dead.
Thanks @Marcel Offermans for all the effort you put in. Just hope you're still active in the comunity.
Hopefully it's for a nice juicy new opportunity. You're certainly leaving rF2 on a high, Marcel. Thanks for your leadership and hard work on my favourite sim.
Thank you @Marcel Offermans for all you have accomplished with this fantastic sim, and best of luck with your next adventure!
Good luck on the new paths you take Marcel!!!!. And thanks for everything you did for the simracing community!!!
Feel sad reading this. But then again thats how life goes. Having said this i wish you all the healt luck and joy in the world @Marcel Offermans and realy hope our paths will cross again because i came to know you as a very nice driven person. Till we meet again
Is this good or bad news for rF2? Marcel and your team saved rF2 from the death back in 2016, they made the game better and more refinated. Now the game is in the hand of a big company. I think what this company will do if rF2 doesn't bring the expected financial return? Will they keep the game with the platform open for modders? Will they follow the iRacing side with exclusively paid content? Or will they follow the side of Electronic Arts by charging absurdly expensive values for games for having sports licenses? Or will they keep rFactor2 as it has always been, an open game for the community to use their creativity to create content, make private leagues and have some fun with friends? I believe only time will tell.
For me the man behind RF2 with capabilities not many have. Wish you all the best in personal and business, hopefully you will continue to play RF2 in the future. We keep RF2 going as modders (Groetjes uit Belgiƫ)
Thanks @Marcel Offermans for all the job done to improve this simulation and push rFactor2 at the top level of simracing.
Good luck with all your future ventures @Marcel Offermans . I wish you well and hope your future is bright. You will be missed here. All the best.
