    Title: low GPU usage

    Type: Bug Report?

Describe Your Issue: back when I used to play rf2 regularly I used to get full GPU usage, used to see it on the green or purple bar, can't remember now which colour it was. Have started playing again recently and notice that most of the time my GPU usage is only around 50 to 60 % even when fps is nowhere near my 143 fps cap. No temp issues and cpu usage is about 60% on one core and 30s maximum on others. I don't know why the GPU would not work at more usage to boost fps?

PerfLog File Upload: Wouldn't know how to

Steps to Reproduce: happens on mod and official tracks

    Images or Screeshots:

    I Agree: of course

    GTX 1080ti

    FYI:

CTRL + F on track, then SHIFT + SPACEBAR to record a Perflog. This is then saved in your USERDATA\LOG folder

Is there anything we can read into a Perflog or can this only be analysed by S397 ?
Is so, how does one go about reading it ? Google said nothing :(

For me ctrl f isn’t reporting anything but zeros since the last update.

Only Studio397 can analyse it with their own tools.

@F1Aussie Are you still on single screen? Your GPU in your profile is out of date.

The green (graphics) bar in the Ctrl-C graphs I believe represents the graphics thread (CPU), rather than GPU use. When the game/system has no frame limits of any sort it does usually go full, I would guess you either have a problem artificially limiting it or perhaps some configuration somewhere is making the game wait for the next frame before generating new graphics.

However, the last build has performance improvements based on multithreading the graphics, so maybe that's affecting what that graph shows too.

Hey Lazza, I don't recall having PC specs here as they are hidden from view. Still single screen but 34 inch 2560 X 1080 144hz gsync monitor now and GTX 1080ti. Have tried graphics unlimited and with a cap and GPU usage doesn't change much.

I only have one suggestion, which is what I repeat often with this sim, that is, PCI-E limit. The bus serves as interface between the CPU and GPU is basically the third bottleneck if as in your case GPU and CPU both are not fully utilized. The way I check this is from MSI Afterburner graphs. The problem with bus usage is that it doesn't have to be 100% to indicate a bottleneck, a much lower number is already a problem.

My usage went down from 50-60% to 30% when I upgraded to PCI-E 3.0 motherboard and FPS got around 30% better.

Lol, yes it did about 1300 AUD. Love it though, is a curved one too. One touch to overclock to 165hz as well

What would you suggest is a number that would cause a bottleneck here?

Anything in proximity of 50% would be a clear PCI-E bottleneck based on my experiences.

No i haven't, will try that tomorrow. Do you think I should turn gsync off in control panel or on monitor itself? Or both?

I had problems with low gpu usage but with setting below it got better, and after the update up to 99% (when needed)
fps limited to 100, gsync is on

    upload_2018-4-27_18-4-47.png

this with sli and triples but maybe something to test, now it works so good after the update so I don't dare to touch any settings :D
