Interesting post. I don't fully agree with everything, but I guess it's a matter of perspective. For example - I don't think HDR profiles can help much, because problem is a bit deeper within engine - lighting engine doesn't follow the notion of irradiance. I'm not saying it should be implemented ( although it's not that hard ), but at least lighting colors should be set up ( more less ) properly. Since you cannot fix this with HDR profile, no HDR profile will ever look realistic to me. I guess ignorance is bliss sometimes
