I don't know how it works, but in rF1 we had northamptonshire (silverstone), nuerberg (nurburgring), also brianza (monza), jiading (shanghai), jacksonville (daytona), and all modern layouts (and arguably, montreal and barcelona where just the citynames, not tracknames?) and in rF2 there again is jacksonville (daytona), matsusaka (suzuka), malaysia (sepang), portugal (estoril), Palm Springs (homestead), tiger moth (top gear test track), and some other ovals which I don't know which they resemble (not an oval specialist :p )
So seeing with how many tracks they have done it, that reasoning is probably invalid I would think ;)

So much rage due something that people don't even know how much it will cost, probably less than we pay for a regular round of our sacred daily beer, anyway please S397 give us contenders to incoming McLaren, we need some complete series for a change.

Hmmm, let's see... I paid $80USD many years ago. I was buying a "lifetime" of free upgrades, lifetime server access and lifetime content.

So now, the price drops to $40, everyone is given access at no additional charge and now I'm told I have to buy the content. I bit my tongue the first go around, but not this time. Now I've not only had $40 stolen from me, I've had whatever the new "content" costs will be.

I'm not sure I'm o.k. with that. I bought on the premise it was as stated. I guess anyone can now change their mind and their contracts anytime they feel like it. I bought this sim many years ago lauding how great it was and supporting the now defunct publisher while everyone else was thumbing their collective noses at it.

Well, unfortunately that's illegal to change a contract without agreement of all parties. There was nothing in the previous license agreement that stipulates they can do that. Just because there's no profit in it and they bought it, doesn't allow them to just do whatever they want.

I have asked for and will gladly accept my $80 dollars returned and I'll be on my way. Will it get better with more money? Well lets hope so, but you don't screw the people that committed to the sim and helped it when it was struggling and then say well, tough shit. Sorry, that doesn't win any loyalty points for me.

I'm glad your happy. At least you still have $40+ in your pocket.

Hmm, I'm sorry to say but games do become cheaper over time :) So to be upset that someone paid less then you is understandable, but to ask for $40 back is silly. (Logic i just bought a car for $100k, oh damn next year its $80,000, i should go to the dealer and ask for $20,000 back?) hmm.

Really, the term lifetime can be interpreted rather loosely. You did enter some form of contract by paying for the product, however i'm sure in the EULA they state that terms can change without warning etc and additionally you did get your lifetime service with "ISI", however now studio 397 has taken over therefore the lifetime (4years) is over with ISI.

I still cannot get my head around peoples complaints over this matter.

Just a reminder, lifetime license or multiplayer pass was under ISI, S397 just take rF2 a year ago and assured us it will survive,to do so they removed every "multiplayer tax" .... so, this is a different story, you can't complain they changed the contract, they just saved a product taken from others...they didn't see a eurocent from multiplayer...

They "save" the game to sell single cars and other "items" rather then makeing the game better so more people will buy it? rF was always the base for modders. Now making money with content wont work! rF2 needs a hugh boost to the base and not for more single cars. If they would sell a hole serie as an addon, this is another thing. But there is so much work still to do. Damage model and effects (flame grafics,..), grass, easier modding tools, extends to rain, realroad. There are many ideas that would help, better ingame tutorial for tuning, racing. A league community side where you can register and/or find the right "clan". Multiplayer "behavior" rank (behind the nick?) and much more.

Yea we have big news: We have an ingame store for new skins... yeeaaa...

I really hope nobody from S397 takes such ridiculous requests for refunds seriously.

@Numrollen There is so much work to do in any racing game. You can never implement everything.

Did this "lifetime of free upgrades" cover the model being sold onto another party and all upcoming DLC ?
Have you still got the contract you bought into ? Could you post here where it states these components !
I have a air conditioner that has a "lifetime"warranty , how long is that covered for ? Until it breaks (its lifetime or mine?) . Lifetime warranty are useless, better to get one that states a certain amount of time rather than lifetime .

I don't like the item store.
If they want to release paid content do it via steam store.
Item store is basically iracing and r3e for me. Both of them never ending high priced content.

Ahem, they are working on all of this...they just started to sell products but everything you are talking about is under development....
"Internal store" doesn't mean higher prices, to be honest "Steam store" will give you higher prices due to Steam asking their part of money too...
@dkiewicz you will still have free content...see at DLC as a plus to help them

I think you have full right to be annoyed but nothing was stolen from you. The lifetime was meant only to be a one-time cost for multiplayer. And that's ALL it was supposed to be. Before you mention that before there were no paid dlc you need to understand that the lifetime you bought had nothing to do with content. All content isi/397 has ever released has been open and available for everybody. If it was only available for free for lifetime subscribers then you'd have a point but that's not how it was. You only paid for lifetime online pass. And you still got it.

It is a technicality but isi/397/everybody do have the power to change the business model of their game at any time. Regardless I feel really sympathetic especially toward those who bought the lifetime just moments before rf2 online pass was removed and online was not behind paywall anymore. But dlcs have nothing to do with it. I tried to find some official statements about this but only thing that was mentioned constantly was that lifetime is just a one-time fee for the online pass.

I understand dkiewicz's point of view, although I don't feel the same about it.

Basically, when S397 made online free to all, I thought that was the move to make for sure, but I also thought that considering we did pay say 40€ for something that's become free, a little gift to counter this a bit would be quite welcome. Sure, I'm not considering asking for a 40€ gift, just a little something to compensate. That's called commercial gesture I guess.

Now you can insult me as well :p

My extra $$ that I paid buying the lifetime version way back for build 49 (the very first public release) easily covers the cost of annual subscription that others paid for the same number of years. Complaining about it on that basis is infantile.

I agree that those who bought lifetime just prior to the ISI - S397 handover have a valid complaint. But that's all.

As I already got my monies worth out of my purchase in 2012, I am more than happy to buy all the DLC that S397 care to offer me. If it enables my favourite SIM to develop then how can I or anyone else complain.

    I
I completely agree despite it does not affect me at all.

Shortly before announcing the drop of lifetime and paid yearly online suscriptions, several people were actively tempted by the software owner to move to lifetime license when they were only requesting to transfer their account to steam and had enough time remaining in their suscription. The offer was difficult to reject if you didn't know it would be free in a couple of months.

Not only they kept accepting renewals before the end of lifetime vs year suscriptions, but they encouraged their already customers to make a bigger expense.

This is not a nice practice in my opinion and I don't think the benefit obtained deserves the bad reputation you earn. I think this situation could be compensated somehow by providing a free DLC to those people affected by this unfortunate situation.

So you have had your head in the sand this last few months then,as you say,all they have done is sell content and not done anything to better the sim.

Guys is it me,or are some in here on a completely different planet.

I bought some trainers years ago,the same model have just came out again but they are £20 cheaper,so you think if I take my old ones back, they will refund me.

Some really don't get it or they just don't want to.
Let's me ask you a question....When you buy new car from the first production batch you always pay way more money compared to when you buy exactly the same car when it's already few years in production.

Do you guy's go to the dealer too and ask them for price refund ? :D
