Further update: after discovering that there is a folder called SUPPORT, and following the advice to run all the 4 .EXE into the folder, I've never experienced a single CTD. It has beed quite frustrating to discover this folder and his content in 2017 after 5 years I had a crashy RF2.
Some other software products require installing 3rd party tools during the main software installation. I wonder why all the executables are not installed just in case.
Meanwhile, I miss a FAQ sticky thread with most common problems and their fixes. We are repeating the same things over and over:
For general problems
- remove DX9 plugins (delta best, trackmap, ...)
- delete cbash and shaders folder
- delete userdata folder
- check in video config that preferred graphics card is selected.
- disable rivatuner
- verify the integrity of the cache under steam-rfactor2-properties
- run the vcredist executables under support folder
- reinstall latest graphics drivers after completely uninstalling the ones installed.
- reinstall rfactor2 as the last resource.
For DLC and official content problems
- unsuscribe and resuscribe
- check if older content is being used by some race event
- verify antivirus not blocking
