Skin Tutorial
1)
Select the car ingame and go to the tuning screen

2) Click on "create dir"
GRAB-020.jpg

3) Exit the game

4) Go to [...]\rFactor 2\UserData\player\Settings\ directory
Find the model of your car (Porsche 956 in this example) starting with GTPC => GTPC_P956
In this directory, you'll find a new empty directory you've just created ingame "WEC1984_BRUN20" in this example.

5) Put your skin file there with also the upg.ini & all extras window & wing dds.
The name of your files must begin with "Alt" and then it's maximum 12 characters for the rest of the main name.
In this example the name is "Alt_mine" and WEC Porsche 956 come with 3 extras.dds + wing.dds + window.dds as seen on the picture below.

6) Launch the game and return in the tuning sreen of the selected car (on 1st step).

7) Click on variants ">"

GRAB-022.jpg

Now you can see your new skin if you have followed all the steps. If you are only playing offline, you can stop at this step. (lucky you!)

8) If you're happy with this new car, click on create
GRAB-022b.jpg

9) In the popup fill out ALL fields:
IMPORTANT: In the 'description' field fill in the <Name of the car> <#number>...example "Porsche 956 Mine #20")
DO NOT fill in your 'team name' in 'Description'
GRAB-023.jpg

Click 'ACCEPT' and then 'BACK' in the lower left corner
Now you can see your new car on the menu as below (if not, try again to create it)
GRAB-024.jpg

10) Select your car in the menu, go to tuning.
Don't panic if your car isn't perfect at this step, it's normal! Click on "Reload"

11) Exit the game and go back to your player\Settings\GTPC_[...] directory
Tuto-dir2.png

You'll find your a new created directory, copy-paste again all your dds file in this directory

Tuto-dir3.png

12) In the laucher, click on "Mas Utility" icon (*1)
Open the .mas file (*2) => it's on the same directory you've just put all your dds files.
Tuto-mas1.png

Click on "Add files to MAS archive." icon (yellow +) (*3)
Add all the missing .dds files (extras, window & wing)
Click on File => Save

Now your MAS file is OK! (it's the file you'll send automatically to all players when you are online)

PS: DON'T click again on reload or all your extra.dds files will be deleted from the MAS.

Hi folks,

Some good news of our work in progress.

The first one is that since mid-december, I’m not anymore a lonely modder working on my side but we are now a converting team ! 2 users from the forum entered the project :

*doddynco have accepted to enhance the sounds when the mod will be in final stage. :)

*Bernd is the rainmaker of the project even if he doesn’t want to dance for it. He’s in charge of the wipers animation & the ripples. You can watch in this picture that the work is going well in that area :

With them in our squad, that means the quality of the conversion is being pushed at another level.

On physics side, things are also going well. Turbo engine is newly implemented. The Lancia will came with 2 turbo mapping. The default one will give you 745hp (top speed 342km/h) and it's the mapping to use for long races. The other one will give you 800hp, some extra RPMs, some extra fuel consumption, but way less longevity. It will be only for qualifications (or sprint races for those able to use it wisely).

If all goes well, we'll start to work on 2nd car in few weeks. So in the next ‘’roadmap’’, it will be the right time to show some Jaguar’ screenshots…

Roadmap update - January 2020

As promised, we have some screenshots of our 2nd model. Jaguar XJR5 is now fully converted for the graphical part.

About physics, we have authorization to use data inputed by Richard Wilks from AMS conversion. It's a good news because it will increase the quality of rf2 physics. For example, inertia values are more accurate in the AMS conversion than in original rf1 release.

Talking about rf1, we are still using the original skins of the mod, which were in 2048 x 1024 pixels. It will be better to redone those skins in 4096 x 2048 resolution. If you are interested by painting those cars, contact me by PM.

After some researches, we've opted for white headlights for both Lancia & Jaguar.

Rainy test @ Donington

Stay tuned...

Roadmap update - February 2020

Another month has passed, another 3D model is nearly fully converted. Porsche 956 still need rainy stuff and proper physics but we can show you some screenshots of the WIP.

Seems like a Porsche test somewhere in germany

GRAB-087.jpg

14 Porsche 956 & 2 Porsche 962 took part of Le Mans 1984

Not so bad for a rf1 mod released 5 years ago...

GRAB-085.jpg

This car is coming with a nice wiper, isn'it?

About the Jaguar, we are pleased to say that physics are finished. Initial release is still planned for june, but maybe it will come with few extras.

About bonus, I leave you with 2 edited screenshots:
