Good luck on that, hopefully will work it out without too much wasted time on spinning wheels. Good finding so far, it means it has to do something with specularity stuff. It is been so long since I last time did any shader work, or even looked at the textures. The stripes in the lawn aren't baked shadows, those are taken from Google Earth and then edited into the texture map. Possibly the texture that maps into the darker paths just gets shaded in such way that it gains colors that blends it in too much with lighter paths, or something like that, I really don't remember... The way I worked was using Blender>gJed. I have barely ever used 3Dsimed and never used rF2 materials editor, don't know anything about it yet.
