Hi all i use a fanatec CSL elite ps4 version belt driven steerring wheel and i really want to know how much of FFB smoothing peple use at different cars and tracks
please share your knowledge for a better FFB feel
also tell us what steering wheel you use.
Thanks :)

For a belt driven wheel you should use 0 for smoothing (you already have smoothing naturally by the belt). I always used 0 for smoothing for my belt driven Fanatec CSRE wheel. For old gear driven wheels like Logitech G25/27... maybe use smoothing factor 2 or 4 to reduce rattle (and only if rattle is a problem for you, like too much noise racing at night). For DD wheels i don't know but i expect 0 too (i never had a DD wheel, only had old gear driven and belt driven wheels).

You have to know, the more smoothing you use, the more you water rF2's excellent and most detailed FFB in simracing market. So only use smoothing >0 if really needed (like too much rattle, noise ...)

EDIT: wheel I use now: belt driven Fanatec CSRE upgraded to 10Nm motors (using 0 smoothing). wheel I had: gear driven Logitech G25 (used 0 smoothing, sometimes 4 smoothing at night cause of rattle)

That was before I found out that Fanatec forum has a reccomended settings page. Anything other than that, the FFB felt horrible. Lately I have reinstalled rF2 and tried Smoothing at 0. I put it back at 16 immediately ahah. With a bit of time, I can try to lower it and see how it feels.

CSL Elite is a belt driven wheel. You should use 0 smoothing by all means. If 0 smoothing doesn't feel best for you I expect your wheel configuration is very wrong.

I use these settings:

CSL Elite Wheel Base
Tuning Menu Settings:
SEN AUT
FF 100
SHO 100
ABS User Preference
DRI 003
FOR 100
SPR 100*
DPR 100*
BRF User Preference
FEI 060
*SPR and DPR values have no effect.
In-Game Settings:
FFB Smoothing: User Preference
FFB Minimum Torque: 0

I usually use smooth 10 \ 15 (DD1) and I can feel the rubber touching the asphalt. mainly formulas. it's fantastic

0 is untouched best ffb.
keep it as low as possible. each setting increase also increases latency and decreases detail. 16 sounds redicolous to me.
i am using 0 and 1 (because i am not a fan of the noise feel) on my dd1.

I can only tell my Fanatec CSRE wheel setting (old belt driven wheel):

SEN: 900 (well i set it to actual car wheel lock, but for new wheels AUT probably is ok)
FF: 100
SHO: 100
DRI: OFF
ABS: 100
LIN: 000
DEA: 000
SPR: 0
DPR: 0
ACL: OFF

FFB Smoothing: 0
FFB Min Tourque: 0

FFB multiplier: dependent on car between 0.6-1.0 (take care to not get FFB clipping! too high FFB forces and your wheel is clipping)

Maybe someone with a CSL Elite Wheel Base can share good settings?

EDIT: Only as a try: set DRI:OFF, SPR:0 DPR:0 and use a lower FFB multiplier like 0.6 so your wheel FFB is not clipping for sure.

guys ffb smoothing at 0 gives a lot of rattling after tire flatspot.
also i think that creates ffb artifacts like unatural ffb kind of thing
i remember i had it at zero but its not recomended from a lot of ppl.
some say that skip barber must be at near 30 but i cant find the topic

Yeah, please find that topic telling Skip Barber must be at near 30 FFB smoothing. Would really like to read its arguments cause for me that i just ridiculous. I have driven Skip Barber for months and 0 smoothing is best to feel all details and rF2's strength.

I never liked and always avoided to use Fanatec settings like DRI, SPR, DPR other than zero in rF2 (dont remember if SPR and DPR are even used in rF2, i think they are, DRI for sure is). Cause rF2 car and tire physics simulation is one of the best in sim market (calculating everything from tire touching tarmac ... to steering wheel without any simple canned effects added). No need to use a canned effect like these calculated on wheel firmware either, they again only water/dilute/distort rF2 advanced sim model by simple canned effects we had 10 years ago like in rF1 and even still for other sims. Using them in rF2 for me is just wrong.

I am thinking of a high quality FFB wheel like a high quality loudspeaker. If the source is perfect (like a high quality sound file in 320 bps and high quality amplifier = rF2 sim model) you need a high quality loudspeaker with no distortions at all (like a high quality wheel)
Every other added sound effects (canned FFB effects) should be avoided for the result to be perfect and only added if really necessary. So my Fanatec wheel setting sets all wheels firmware canned effects to zero.

i also cannot remember what steering wheel he had
