    Very nice!

I wanted to be able to drive all the Indycar tracks and converted this one also for private use, but it doesn't come near any sort of quality of course ;)
The thing that I remember from converting this one, is the trees; I collided with the non-visible part of them :)

Thanks for working on this; looking forward to driving a decent version.

Hell yeah! We just need CART cars to use there.

ps: I didn't know Detroit could be that green :p

It's a WIP, and I'm nowhere near finished, but I have seen pictures + Google Street view, and it looked quite green to me. You mean a more yellow-ish grass ?

Not sure if he meant it like that, but your grass looks very/too saturated. It becomes even more apparent if you compare the green of the trees (wich looks very desaturated and dull) with the green tone of the grass. This might become a problem with the new tone mapper, so I think a good way to set this is by checking one of the official tracks like NOLA and how the grass texture is setup there. Maybe a value between your tree color and the grass might be good. I wouldn't go by Google Street view pictures or photos per se as most images are not really setup for game environments.

Other than that, the WIP looks like it is going in a good direction. ;)

Compare to this attached video screengrab and you'll see your trees are definitely too light and the grass too saturated. Realize that this video screengrab has too much contrast (shadows in the trees are too dark) and the day was more overcast than your track.

Spring grass in North America, particularly in video, is always more intense than July-Aug-Sep grass, so toning down the saturation a touch compared to video shots is always a good idea.

Is this the current layout? I ask because I saw you talk about it in the cart post.

If you haven't done so make sure you Albedo Map your textures before tweaking colors or you may have to do things twice. I like the water :)

I like the asphalt is asphalt color. Like Emery said, trees are too light and grass is too saturated, but I imagine there's no point bothering much with getting that done right now since it will change come the big visual update. Really exciting stuff.

The CART 98 cars, are they that version .7x from zerocool eons ago, or have you done your own port and improvements?

The screenshots are from the '92 version (hence the brand new asphalt). Plans are to do other years from the 90's only. I can't be bothered to do a track version for the crap wagons :)

Cheers guys, I'll remember that when I indeed do a proper color correction.

Actually that's the only thing I did, I'm saving the proper color correction for last.
And I don't like the water. I really don't. Is Monaco the best we can hope for in terms of water in rF2 ?

Haha I forgot the upcoming "big visual update" ! Another reason to keep small improvements like this for the end.
It's the same good old version by zerocool and co. from ages ago.

Dang, I was hoping you were using the aerial lidar data that's available.

There's a misunderstanding there. I was replying to Guimengo's question about the cars (that's how I understood it anyway :p), the cars in the screenshots are from the already old version of the mod.
The track indeed uses the LiDAR data.

I would never have thought someone would be even remotely interested in the 80's proposal tracks ! I didn't mention them, but yes, they'll be included as they were in the rFactor release back in 2010.
The 2000's and 2010's versions would require quite a bit of additional work, like remodeled corners, repaved / widened sections, paved pitlane, new props, etc... there's already enough work as it is.
Besides, for all the modern tracks made that could have got historic versions but didn't (for example Fontana, Homestead, Indy, F1 tracks...), well this time it'll be the historic track that won't have a modern version :p

ahh, a man after my own heart. CART/CHAMPCAR was my favorite series. Now I can barely watch highlights without getting bitter.
