Should be fine, although it looks like it'll need a lot of work from what I'm seeing. There's stuff I've had to do from scratch. I don't want to steal your thread, let's go back to talking about your 1996-1997 conversion after this post. :p

Oh, random question - Do you know if it's possible to delete a material in 3DSimED? This 1995 mod has a steering wheel with arms on it, and I can't figure out how to delete the arms.

If the arms is a seperate material, just go to edit and then erase geometry and find the material of the arms...
If the whole GMT is one material it's "just" a case of deleting the faces of the arms... hold ctrl and use the mouse (left click) to make selections and then hit "Delete" in the "Faces" menu that will pop once the left moust button is released again.

You know who to PM if you need any further help @SL1DE ;)

As Schumi and Sl1de are pretty much on fire with historic F1 conversions ATM, I think it would be pretty awesome if one (or both) of them could do some magic on certain open wheelers from US and which also happened to race in the latter part of the 90's. Those are definitely cars which are still lacking from the rF2 virtual garage, unfortunately.

Guess what I'm hinting here :D

Well, there's a certain 1998 mod that has been converted almost 2 years ago, and still waiting for decent physics. I could be wrong, but I believe ISI was supposed to help there.
Meanwhile in Automobilista, there's the very same mod already available, and it seems that Reiza themselves helped improve the physics so we could get a good popular mod to race with.

Is this true?

Yes !

At this point the mod mostly needs someone who really understands car & tire physics. I do hope one day this mod can be released to the sim racing community as you all deserve it. I have taken the project as far as I can so we'll see if these guys -or anyone else- can help finish it up.
That quote was from exactly one year ago. ISI was probably too busy at that time :D

Michael Borda is always busy and he offered help and i believe provide parameters for suspension and maybe more, but the mod never continued. It also needed more graphical work too.

Reiza helped because Renato worked on the original mod, and CART 98 was a big mover of GSC units, so the highest care went into getting the mod to remain top notch. I also think Nick helped by providing some of the source stuff he made.

It might be best to go after the latest AMS release for conversion instead of continuing the previous. But ideally S397 would release the 95 Reynard Honda so there is a reference for tires and cars making up half the grid.

Ah so that's how it's done. I was looking through all the menus for half an hour looking for a delete option, even searched on Google and couldn't find any guides.

Thanks Bjorn!

Naturally, my friend!
Don't hesitate to PM me if any other obstacle gets in your way :)
Did you manage to achieve what you wanted to?

Yes, I did. I was able to remove the arms and save it. Haven't tried it in-game yet though because I've been busy the past few days.
