create new engine sound

Hi all,
I wanted to modify just the interior/onboard engine sound on formula pro.
I found this nice thread >

so it seems to be possible to modify official car sounds
but i don't know how to create a
sfx file (or whatever it is called).
I'm planning to use AC1 ferrari f2004 engine sound as a source.
I only need to create onboard engine sound rest i want to keep as it is.
So how should i start this ?

I don't think they've released the API for the new engine yet. I expect it'll come after the full release of the current RC. Once they've ironed out any issues and let it bed in.
