Hello sim racers, Another new content reveal is here - the awesome Caterham Academy! Read up on all you need to know, here: https://www.studio-397.com/2022/08/announcing-caterham-academy/
Though sadly I doubt my exact car https://www.evo.co.uk/reviews/6284/caterham will be included when they do more models.
Awww yeeeee. It's gonna make an absolutely awesome foundational car for the competitions system. Love it - excellent choice.
FU** YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS A car for only drive, for race offline, for a league, for everything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah but different physics - my car has inboard front suspension, like the Caterham CSR but different (and that has independent rear suspension too). Never mind, I'll settle for it
I'm predicting some complaints coming down the line. Against the Mini, no left hand drive(why that bothers my fellow Yanks I'll never know) & FWD. For the Caterham: No left hand drive. Both: Low Power Club racers. All of that, to me, is a reason TO BUY, not to complain. Variety is what we are getting so far this Quarter.
A good release. It might even revive online pick-up racing since it's free. @davehenrie - About lhd/rhd, it's the lack of choice when the cars were historically sold with that choice. Of course if S397 does as poor of a job on the corner weights like they did with the Radical, then maybe we're better off without the choice...
I almost dislike that it is going to come for free. Because I'd pay for it. But I will then buy Ferrari GTE, because this one is for free. Yes indeed @Emery it should be instant hit for online racing. This is great, definitely not less awesome than Mini. I already feel that Competition System in rF2 is going to do well by the end of this year, or by the start of 2023.
Not a biggest fan of caterham but its free and probably quite fun to drive, so no problems. loving the variety S397 decided to add. Will definitely give this car a shot.
I for one am very interested in what this may mean for future developments in clutch and gearbox modelling, seeing as both this and the mini are H Pattern, i very much hope there will be development in this area. Also with the mini being part of the Historic series, the British series races on mostly the same tracks as the BTCC do, so I'd love to see more tracks that would suit both like Oulton, Snetterton (my local) and Knockhill to mention just a few.
I started modding GTR2ish LMP cars and always assumed the cockpits were designed to accommodate the left or right hand seating position. It seemed as natural as including two separate fueling ports for either side. I was one of those who complained about the Radical, but if I remember the response I got, the Radical was not a weight neutral car. The right hand car was balanced more closely because it was designed that way. The left hand (American) seating almost seemed to be an afterthought and moving all of the interior components to rebalace the car probably was too expensive for a boutique manufacturer.(my guess as to why they are not more closely balanced.) But in the end, S397 stated the two Radicals were not identical and they had it correct.
the caterham is a car to have online battles without a doubt a wonder of fun congratulations great content and if it is free then better, but if it was paid it would be a safe acquisition
