I have here a alltime classic.
The Porsche Carrera Cup Car will never die..:D
But yes, for the old school lover is the Caterham a fantastic addition!
Hopefully the physic team give us a clutch update with this vehicle.
    That would be an overkill:D

Any "fix" for clutch / gearbox behavior involves so much more than we probably realize and yet, it's such a fundamental part of simulating car behavior. The powertrain to drivetrain interaction impacts not only how the car shifts gears but, also how it maintains / loses traction at the surface level, especially when driving on the very limit of tire adhesion.

With older cars, drivetrain interaction can be even more significant. As drivetrain components wear or fatigue, even brief traction-loss events (such as curb-hopping) may cause failures. Certain components (driveshaft / half-shaft) may flex, adding additional elasticity to the drivetrain, which may further add stress to the system. When these systems are pushed to / beyond their very limits, something has to give. It's one of the fundamental challenges in auto-racing / endurance racing.

Glad they're replacing the Alpine in the entry-level series, but would have preferred one of the higher powered versions..

They have stated there are more Caters that will be released in the future. Seems a-lot of folks are asking for More....

This should be a great entry-level car. It seems to have quite a group of fans in the club racing scene. It also fits well with current content. Well done!

having watched these two videos, I would think the curb sfx are too loud. But then there was qualifying at the Red Bull Ring and when the cars were alone you could hear the curbs at a very similar volume. During the race the full field did cover that noise up though.

Clutch required for shifting? This would be amazing if true. During my first test, after the car was pulled & then replaced in the workshop, I found I could only shift with the clutch and rough rev matching. Is this true????

Its acting like a sequential box, you can't short shift! Try going from 4th to 2nd with your H shifter, it will not register, summit very wrong there

    Yeah, sad but true.
    Very dissapointing. And the FFB..
Ok it's for free, but seriously?
I was really looking forward to the car and then this..
Unfortunately, this isn't the first time something like this has happened.
And that's why I don't buy anything after release.

After trying FFB is OK to me. And caster is adjustable, it makes quite a bit of difference as opposing to using FFB multiplication.

And physics are rather good IMO, I was expecting worse, but it is alright. Perhaps even could be great, but need more time to drive it fast, I'd like it to be more neutral, not much setup options, but could also adjust driving style maybe.

I am not a fan of sparks, when they shouldn't appear, and not a fan of the mess with model objects visibility, where some objects just aren't seen, when they should be - HELLO WHEELS where are you.

Ghost wheels aside, I am very pleased with the interior view, very nice to me.

It seems the shifting behavior off. Sequential shifts require clutch. H-shifter works but needs clutch, rev-match, and relaxed shift engagement pace, to be reliable. The engine volume seems quite low (relative to other cars) and AI cars, too.

Otherwise, I find the car-handling to be quite entertaining. :)

Yeah I thought this was another situation like others had with the IR18 where they couldn't shift in the previous release.

I tried the Catarham today and couldn't get it to shift out of first gear. I thought maybe my wireless wheel was asleep.

I turned on auto shifting to get the car to work.

Then after reading Davehenrie's post above, I went back and tried again and depressed the clutch to shift up and down.

Then tried setting the auto clutch driving aid and it worked fine shifting up and down without using the clutch.

Lately I've been driving without any driving aids.
I wonder if we'll see any Catarham competitions without allowing the auto clutch driving aid.
