http://rfactor.net/web/2013/08/26/rfactor-and-base-performance-simulators/ I'll replace the header when I get the hires. This is probably one of the few chances to mention the F2 in a new news post, had to take advantage.
Thanks for sharing your experience. I'd like to hear what you've learned from this in terms of what changes you might make to your sim rig at home or what you feel would be a more ideal setup to have? e.g. I've always wanted to get a tub and setup the view to show only the wheels and suspension but not sure how much better that would "feel" over my existing setup using the cockpit view and having my VR3 right up against the projected image. I'm also using a single projector vs three so would love to hear your thoughts on what that was like as well. Cheers.
Nice one Tim -- many thanks! @Panigale: the thing I took away from my experience was how bloody hard the professional drivers stamp on the brakes -- and keep their feet planted on the brakes -- knowing that ABS electronics will sort the rest for them. To that regard, I think a full on set of pedals with v v little movement might be on the cards if I was looking to upgrade my hardware. My CSP from Fanatec are great, but these felt real at BPS. Otherwise, genuinely not much else I'd change ... there is so much scope in the software here to do some great analysis -- along with other sim software too -- that there is as much fun to be had in the analysis as there is in the driving. I'd like a new wheel ideally too, but my G27 is very good and I cannot justify the £4k cost of a professional unit!!!!
A little something I'll be looking at in the second article -- red=my braking pressure black=professional braking pressure. Eeek! View attachment 9491
Good write up thanks, Shame they wouldn't let you know the hardware (projectors & wheel / pedals ) I'd gladly trade that screen system for a good motion system & some vibration units (& tripple screen 3d) How things will change When VR headsets take off hey
