With that, question and suggestion. I haven't spent too much time in this mod, as I've been working on other projects. Where are the templates? I can't seem to find them I've noticed that you can have some "broken" configurations. For example: Selecting "Carbody Flat" with "Windscreen Small High Car". Some of the wings with air box configurations are similar. My suggestion is that you can combine the "Carbody" and "Windscreen" sections in the upgrades.ini. I hope this would work and be understandable UpgradeType="Windscreen" { Instance="Windscreen" UpgradeLevel="No Windscreen Flat Car" { Description="No Windscreen Flat Car" GEN=<Windscreen>=f170_windscreen_1.gmt GEN=<Carbody_config>=f170_carbodya_2.gmt GEN=<Carbody1>=f170_carbodya_2.gmt GEN=<Carbody2>=f170_carbodyb_2.gmt GEN=<Carbody3>=f170_carbodyc_2.gmt } UpgradeLevel="No Windscreen High Car" { Description="No Windscreen High Car" GEN=<Windscreen>=f170_windscreen_1.gmt GEN=<Carbody_config>=f170_carbodya_1.gmt GEN=<Carbody1>=f170_carbodya_1.gmt GEN=<Carbody2>=f170_carbodyb_1.gmt GEN=<Carbody3>=f170_carbodyc_1.gmt } UpgradeLevel="Windscreen Small Flat Car" { Description="Windscreen Small Flat Car" GEN=<Windscreen>=f170_windscreen_2.gmt GEN=<Carbody_config>=f170_carbodya_2.gmt GEN=<Carbody1>=f170_carbodya_2.gmt GEN=<Carbody2>=f170_carbodyb_2.gmt GEN=<Carbody3>=f170_carbodyc_2.gmt } UpgradeLevel="Windscreen Big Flat Car" { Description="Windscreen Big Flat Car" GEN=<Windscreen>=f170_windscreen_3.gmt GEN=<Carbody_config>=f170_carbodya_2.gmt GEN=<Carbody1>=f170_carbodya_2.gmt GEN=<Carbody2>=f170_carbodyb_2.gmt GEN=<Carbody3>=f170_carbodyc_2.gmt } UpgradeLevel="Windscreen Small High Car" { Description="Windscreen Small High Car" GEN=<Windscreen>=f170_windscreen_4.gmt GEN=<Carbody_config>=f170_carbodya_1.gmt GEN=<Carbody1>=f170_carbodya_1.gmt GEN=<Carbody2>=f170_carbodyb_1.gmt GEN=<Carbody3>=f170_carbodyc_1.gmt } UpgradeLevel="Windscreen Big High Car" { Description="Windscreen Big High Car" GEN=<Windscreen>=f170_windscreen_5.gmt GEN=<Carbody_config>=f170_carbodya_1.gmt GEN=<Carbody1>=f170_carbodya_1.gmt GEN=<Carbody2>=f170_carbodyb_1.gmt GEN=<Carbody3>=f170_carbodyc_1.gmt } Really looking forward to all of this. A great concept with many interesting ideas and so much more that can continue to be added.
ok, this is the first try to make it so easy at is possible, here is the Template for all parts, the Carbody is always the same for all cars, when you look at the showroom every part from the car have a Description, it have the same name as the layer in the template. the mirror, rollbar, and rims is also the same for all cars. let us see how it works. https://workupload.com/file/Wm5qk7my5s3
Not sure if a bug or not ?, but chrome wheels aren't showing as chrome, at least for my install of the 70's mod.
After doing a little bit of research on skins, that era of Can-Am kept popping up. It would make for an interesting addition as I don't think that was ever modded in anything.
I'm a hooouge Can-Am fan, as anyone who reads should be able to figure out...and I'm a big fan of Al Unser Jr, who won a Can-Am championship in those kind of cars, but I've never been able to accept those as true Can-Am cars. Just left-over F-5000 with fenders. I shouldn't poo poo them, as it truly was an effort to revive the Can-Am era....but......
Can-Am was crazy. There is a great '71 GPL mod and we ported it to rf1 at f1classics back then. Not sure if the stuff is still around.
Man... this all looks so good. Can`t wait to give it a go. What a time for my graphics card to die on me...
maybe someday you could add the last one legendary engine of that era on of the best V12 engine sound ever from 1'31'' pure sounds
