Recommendations for better multi GPU performance

i use max settings in game, 1920x1200 ssaax3, no hdr, 12.11 beta 8
12.11 cap
i only race lotus 49 at spa and get 95fps, it goes up to 180fps if i turn off ssaa and keep
it at msaax3 but that gives a few jaggies, its only since latest build that crossfire started working

hey guys I have a question. I have a tri sli MB I currently run 2 5870's, I can get a third for 200bucks will this help things or just complicate? I really want to get the frames up when running 5040x1050 res

i have an i7 920 @ 3.8 12 gigs ram @ 1600 so I don't think there will be a bottle neck

my psu is 800watts..thanks

 

Well, racing the skippy, at Mills I get worse frame rates with SLI Enabled, but at Mid Ohio, I get better frame rates. So, unfortunately, I would say its completely unpredictable as to the overall effect.

My machine, a Q6600 @ 3.5GHz with two HD5750's, my DDR2 1066 ram running almost flat out 1:1 ratio too.

So, with rF2 running 1600x900 res, level 2 AA, crossfire disabled and, all graphic settings on low, 0 AI cars, LimeRockPark maxxed out at 159fps in the pits With crossfire enabled, it instantly shot down to 100fps in the pits, sort of looking stuttery as well. That tells me its still not working, but I could be wrong.
Is there a cap on frame rates with crossfire enabled? Surely my CPU is man enough to handle these two little girlies??

I get significant improvements on 3dmark scores running back to back tests. I can only imagine if I turn the graphics up in rF2 with CF enabled, frames are going to drop even more!! Back to one card for now.

If people could try their graphics on the very lowest lowest settings with no AI at LRP, see what fps their machine can max out on, then enable crossfire to see if score goes up or down, thats if its not capped. That should give you a good indication of whether its working or not, though please correct me if im wrong!! Some feedback would be great guys, as 9 out of 10 times im always wrong lol

When running xfire or trifire do all the cards need to be the same i have two 5870's can I add a 6850 to them? thanks

 

You need to use 5xxx series only!!! 6xxx as another architecture he wont fit your needs!!

Can you install MSI Afterburner (if you don't already have it) and have it opened while you try rf2 with crossfire enabled for a short while. You can then check MSI Afterburner to see how much of each graphics card gpu is being utilised, if both at all.

I've got SLI 2xGTX670 and i'm using AFRFriendlyD3D.

5760x1200 all set to max with VSync on==> 60 constant fps.

Without ==> 30fps.

Ive run the two GPU's together, loaded up rF2, went to LRP, did 1 lap and quit the game. This is the result,

Please disable all reflection settings in the settings and do this again with both gpus enabled.

 

Just ordered a 3rd 5870 for 130usd plus a 1000w psu. I will post my findings when I get that installed. I really hope things will increase for the better...we will soon see

 

Think I'd rather of sold the 5870s you had and with the extra money you've spent on a 3rd card and psu, bought a single high end card (7970/680).

 

Thanks bud, but I already had all the reflections disabled from the start, as I dont normally run with reflections as my cards are poo
But I thought I would do a test with the reflections on, to see the difference. Seems better balanced GPU usage with the reflections on look Im not saying everyones is the same, but thats mine like.
