Hey guys. We want to make another prototype car to add to the 787B in the CCM mod so its not all alone. Of course the second car would be released later on but we want to give you all the opportunity to vote on which one you want to see. Be sure to cast your vote and if you like, give a post as to why you think the car you voted for should be picked.
that's World Sports Cars Championship, Group C is 1981 (or 82) to 1992. Either mods would be excellent IMO! The WSC70 mod on rF was immense and I managed to try the prototype_C beta but i think they were waiting for rF2 to progress before releasing it. Porsche 962C all day long
Group C cars huh? Interesting to see what you guys like, I'll have to discuss that with my LMP car modelers and see what we can come up with at a later date.
Mmm... that`s quite a tough call guys... All three are really nice motors but I`ve gone for the Porsche 962c. Appreciate the chance to vote on this too Petros Mak, nice to have a choice in the matter even if one`s car is`nt picked.
Ultimately I'd love to do them all at some point. I just made the poll to see which one would be wanted next.
looks like the Porsche 962c was obsolete by 1991. Obvious choice is the Jaguar, but C11 is so more beautifull! (to my eyes that is) Some funny trivia from Wiki: "The reason that Sauber skipped from C9 to C11 is due to the difficult pronunciation of C10 in German, with C and 10 being pronounced nearly identically." Chechen? he he.
would be too boring, because noone had a chance against the 917. the 2nd best car was the other porsche prototype.
Sure is a beauty and a remarcable racer, won races after...12 years since her debute??!! No group C till the 80s, it was called Sportscars at 70s and 60s. So, 512s's and m's didnt have a chance? 917 is a legent, but she was full factory backed, while Ferraris werent.
Mmm... we`re tied at the time of writing this post for the 962c and the Mercedes Benz C11... Both at 38.78% as I type. Interesting.
yes. 1970: +30 laps (~+9%) 1971: +31 laps (~ +8%) at that time porsche was so small, i'm not sure you can call it 'factory' support.
from wiki "Contrary to Porsche, Ferrari did not organise an intramural competition. At Porsche, JWA Gulf, KG Porsche Salzburg and later Martini Racing, received all direct factory support. Thus, at least four cars were real works cars, without putting strain on the factory itself, as personnel and funds were provided by these professional teams. And even the privateers like AAW Shell Racing and David Piper Racing received a much better support than Ferrari's clients. Ferrari did not adopt this modern scheme, but entered cars themselves in the traditional manner, as Spa Ferrari SEFAC. Having only few Formula 1 drivers under contract in the previous years, with the sports car aces driving for Porsche, Ferrari could barely find qualified drivers for its entries. Beside the factory cars, there were the private cars of Scuderia Filipinetti, NART, Écurie Francorchamps, Scuderia Picchio Rosso, Gelo Racing Team and Escuderia Montjuich. Those private cars never received the same support from the factory. They were considered as field fillers, never as candidate for a win." 917 is a true legent, but 512s and m are equally, even 30 laps behind.
Not this one! The 3rd gen group C cars with double wings were pretty dam quick and i think this won daytona in '91 http://www.flickr.com/photos/antsphoto/3197059656/ And Derek Bell won Le Mans in 1994 in the Dauer 962, albeit modified around a loophole in the regs.
I would have to agree with you endurance wise about Porsche, but Ferrari did set a lap record and placed 3rd overall in 70 I think with the 512M.
When I think of late 80's - early 90's Lemans, the two cars that come most vividly to mind is the green/orange 787B and the purple/white Silk Cut Jaguars.
