actually the mirrors are using def rf2 mirror texture. so they were probably mapped for some custom mirror texture, which can be (yes) higher res. ofcourse the "correct" method should be to map the mirror to standard rf2 mirror texture. easier afterworks, etc...
Ok, I know this is an old thread so fair enough but none of the download links are working... Anybody got this they could upload maybe? I was sure I already had it but don`t seem to now...
as said in another thread this mod seems that is abandoned from 2013 and is unplayable because visual bugs i just made a fast shaders update and textures saturation update i didn't touch physical files if it's a problem just tell and i remove the link R8_Gordini_v0.50: Link
Trying to move this Mod into the 2023 (Author F1ligue gave me permission) Still a long way to go, and its a learning process for me.
I have'nt touch the engine file, other than converted to newer format, and maybe there is no need to do so. In some minor test runs its quite "on par" with the mini. The only thing I would like change on physics, is to fit some wider racing tires (without being too much) and of course with Delta Mics rims.
Borrowed a 53 years old book from my dad yesterday, so now I have detailed pictures of parts which makes it a bit easier when modeling.
The old liveries were broken after 3d update and new uvmap, so needed some new ones. So far 7 liveries done. Thou will revise them later on for region map and window details. (The white in the grills are interior parts which I haven't started working on) Edit - liveries added: Gitanes #11 "BRM" blue-orange #23 "BRM" Blue red #181
@ThomasJohansen top work as usual mate I am thinking this car and the mini and the cortina might be going to have some great RF2 battles.... so you got me googling this cars racing history its amazing what you learn this link I found very interesting keep up the great work.... https://pdmclark.co.za/part-3-the-top-ten-the-renault-r8-gordini/
Thanks for sharing, quite an interesting long read. And I can see there are some more liveries to make ;-) My dad is about 69 years old, and in his first years with a driver license, he bought several used Renault 8's one after another, where the 3rd was a Renault 8 S. This one he modified, to resemble a Gordini, as much he could within he's limited mechanic budget. Even my mom sewed, interior parts for him. I remember, from my childhood, seeing a photo of him (taken by his brother), almost drifting sideways in a R8 at my grandfarthers farm. When he talks about Gordini's he gets this childish dreaming look on his face. At a visit yesterday, he dug out the parts cataloque book from 1970 to explain the difference to parts and why they were as the were. Edit: Fun fact, my dad explained that the Gordini actually had two gasolin tanks to cope with more fuel consumption, one in front and one at rear. And then a manual valve to switch between them.
Here is a preview video of the status so far. 14 liveries, more to come, now I got help from @bears. Most of the 3d exterior is done, but still needs some adjustments and an original exhaust. Haven't touch much on the interior yet, but will do. And it needs a good old 1970s driver, anyone have one in the drawer, who wants to donate it to the project? I cant promise I'll animate it right away.
