Funny you mention that... just saw a video from a guy struggling on the server page because the 'list' view wasn't on.
yes agree 200% it helps a lot online to avoid high ping drivers is it possible to bring it back also with only full details? because i have ran many different servers with 2 styles possible of driver tags : - only Driver Name [ping] - and also with (car number) Driver Name (race position) [ping] am i the only one to saw it ?
I would add to PLEASE put launch buttons to the MAS and Dedicated Server programs back into the UI. I can run them separately but it's a pain inside of Steam, Alt/tabbing in and out. It was much easier to run servers and private races with the original UI. The visuals are confusing with selections noted by size and boldness of the font, all cramped together while the rest of the screen is wide open space. And yes, a dark mode would be most welcome. It also seems as though the Chat and Vote functions are either confusing, hidden, or not fully implemented yet. I've also noticed when exiting an online server RF2 quits to the desktop instead of going back to the main screen.
I wish something a lot more like previous UI garage menus. Specators screen always to be displayed, while the rest of the options and setup would be displayed in fewer separate windows and screen space used rationaly. I have not tried new UI in multiplayer yet, I suppose it is where it should shine. One thing that was really annoying in previous UI in garage, was that chat window was very small and difficult.
A wish for the new UI which is not very common : While being practical + user friendly + maximum functionality + debugguing, I want the UI to allow a lot of settings. These settings would concern the whole UI : Many graphics options with many adjustment possibilities, the same for sounds ..... The session settings as a whole must allow a session to be configured very precisely, with a lot of possibilities, options, precise settings....... On the other hand I fear being misunderstood : All these very many settings, which can be adjusted in a precise manner, must : Be extremely logical, ergonomic, userfriendly...... In fact I want a very "simulation" aspect (for example for weather or AI settings) but very ergonomic and userfriendly ..... And debugging 100%. And a very fast and almost instantaneous interface. "I want the butter, the butter money and the creamer."
In-game HP and torque graphs for each car so that I know when to shift and to help set my gearing, optimum brake temps so that I can set my brake ducts and optimum tire temps. The data is all there but annoyingly it's usually encrypted. This is supposed to be a proper racing sim, every real world professional team knows those three very basic pieces of information.
You should be specific since there are already many settings you can tweak both in-game and the json files; which posibilties? what does precise settings mean? @jimagn what do you mean? a way to filter the car list by 3d party mods?
For example, and this is only one example to apply to the whole UI, many more possibilities of graphic and sound adjustments with judicious and nuanced adjustment levels. Separate adjustments of reflections on the driver's car, on the opponents, on the elements of the scenery : Update frequency + FPS + level of detail. For sounds, for example we could precisely adjust each type of sound : Separate the ambient sounds (its environment of the track, sand, grass, chassis that touches the ground, tires, shocks, and a maximum of other settings.). In a completely different register, I would like to make a compilation of very varied quality car sounds of at least 15 minutes, and that this compilation be read by rF2 when I am in the UI options, as in the videos of cars on youtube with great quality V12 V10 V18 sounds.
I hope we can see telemetry in replay like in old U.I , this is a must. Infact they should add even more telemetry in replays. In-game telemetry like in AMS that shows stuff like suspension movement etc would be amazing. official motec support like ACC would be great too.
I like the new UI look and while it’ll take getting used to, I don’t mind that things have moved around but I don’t understand why the ability to host a dedicated server has been removed from the game. I appreciate that it used to be in the launcher and that has now gone, but it is now impossible to host a dedicated server without using a second PC and second copy of rFactor2 or running the old UI. I hope this is going to be addressed. Also, could we have access to the “graphics configuration” menu. Minor issues: 1. When playing in VR, the S397 HUD has and visible border around it. 2. Vehicle setup being spread over 2 pages and having to scroll down. I’m sure this could be compressed onto one screen without compromising the look. cheers
