I've been playing rF2 on DX11 and had no problems with playing or gaming. I rolled back to DX9 to try to install plugins in the future. Whenever I load the game, I can open rFactor 2 Launcher and it will just crash when I click single player mode and said rFactor 2 has stopped working. I tried verifying the game twice but no luck. Any solutions?
Maybe clear your Shaders and Cbash like it is suggested when going from dx9 to11?. "The Two folders are located in rFactor2/UserData/Player/Logs. Only remove the contents of these folders, leave the empty folders."
I already renamed the UserData folder and the game created a new folder. Validate files, still forced closed. My last option is to go back to dx11.
Nope, no error. After clicking single player will proceed to black screen then after 2 seconds will show rfactor 2 has stopped working. No problem playing with assetto corsa and rFactor 2 via dx11. i3 4160 8gb ram Gtx 1050 ti
Actually i dont have any plugins installed yet, all i have is lots of cars and tracks from workshop thats why i dont want to reinstall the game.
Open the file \Steam\SteamApps\common\rFactor 2\UserData\player\CustomPluginVariables.JSON in Notepad and make sure no leftover plugins are enabled there. Plugins are probably the number one reason for startup crashes in DX11.
Btw, solved it. I opted out on beta via steam, validate files, delete bin64 on rFactor2 folder, verify again then dx9 works! Thanks for all the help.
It's been happening for a few people on dx11 too,rf2 keeps doing this every month or so. It's archaic so bear with it
To give yourself 'fresh' DX9 you would have to delete files from shaders, cbash, delete config.ini, configdx11.ini and possibly the userdata folder (the player file being the issue). It's what I've used to switch back and forth, though it might be a bit of a nuclear option and I'm deleting more than I need to. Your userdata folder will contain setups, skins, replays, etc. Consider backing those up if needed.
