If rF2 wants to do Stock Cars seriously (on both ovals and road courses), there is only one route to take - and that is surely to work with The Sim Factory guys and their knowledge and input that led to the best (and still the BEST) Stock Car sim out there - ARCA Sim Racing. Otherwise, what is the point, especially if there's no NASCAR licence in the works. Unfortunately most people want to race the latest top tier form of the sport, at least at face value. But run ARCA Sim Racing as the 'Simulation' it is, and it still blows the rest into the weeds!!
AndyG, from tests I have done, RF2 tyre physics is at least as good as the Trucks in ARCA. I have tested on Tracks from New Hampshire to Dover, and the issues are with tyre loading on high banked ovals. On flat tracks, the current physics are awesome. Get that worked out and we can go ahead with the whole Nascar thing. I think the main thing here is ISI are going to need to build a high banked oval first so they can iron out any tyre issues.
Done correctly, tires in RF2 are unmatched and realistic enough to be used in professional testing and race environments, seen it, done it (even RF1 has this potential still). Looking forward to what ISI brings out ....
I see in the lobby that there are 3 servers that are testing the stockcar in Jacksonville, there is nothing new about it?
There have been test servers of Jacksonville/Stock Cars up for weeks now. I think Tim said on Twitter a while back that they have good data with nothing missing, so that sounds promising. I'm really looking forward to this, and I hope Jacksonville turns out to be the 2.5 miler from RF1 so we can have some great online 'plate racing
I'm pretty sure that it is. I've seen "RC" attached to the description of some of those servers so I'm assuming RC stands for "road course", hopefully anyway.
Tim Wheatley have released the template of the Stock Cars: https://www.dropbox.com/s/bkfi5vhvypflfn1/stockcar_2014spec.zip
Thank You for the template I think the front hood line and hinge shadows may be to high up the hood. Not complaining, it just looks to far up the hood to me. Drawn in yellow moves it down to the nose some. Something to look at maybe. View attachment 13913 View attachment 13914
It doesn't mean the modelling is off, it's just how mapping is done - which hopefully will mean there won't be stretched bits at that slope.
The template is a little weird, but remember, the couldn't to it too similar to real life. The most important part of it is that we're going to get ISI's vision of Stock Car stuff. We can "easily" replace the 3D model later. EDIT: And also, it appears that the line doesn't follow any cut in the mesh for the hood to open, so you can just paint it on the right place!
I have a feeling that a roof flap does not move when I watch mapping. Do you not intend to move it in the future either?
