Well, while people are going upside down because because of the MP problems, take a look at this forgotten beauty...

Indeed the new HDR automation makes it all look smooth and good. It's a great solution to all the HDR nonsense.
It seems it automatically fits the HDR to the time of day, weather and so on. It's awesome.
Had me a race at Silverstone, started out with a heavy but short shower, and then watched as the sky changed, and the light along with it.
Near the end of the race, the sun came out, and it all just felt natural and smooth.

yeah i know that, but i dont understand how its adjusting all the values in HDR profiles so it looks good. I was making rather a lot of HDR profiles for myself and there are a lot of factors so whoever made it working well made me impressed:)

Thanks for the new HDR screens, I was wondering if the "risk" of upgrade is worth it... does indeed look pretty damn good.

The graphics in some of the devmode custom settings unedited screenshots still blow away these new, very nice, auto HDR screenshots.

I'm not sure of it was the HDR itself or other settings (maybe you can adjust shadow complexities and reflection properties and other stuff in devmode?), but those custom setting devmode screenshots from even an entire year ago still blow these away.

Having said that, these still look great and give a much needed graphical consistency to the game's looks, especially considering how difficult it is to automatically have optimum HDR in a game/sim like RFactor 2 with it's real-time generated cloud & sky system, 24 hour day & night cycles, weather system, and all, and on top of all this even geographical location AND EVEN time of the year affects the looks/graphics (and who knows what else, weather patterns maybe?) in RFactor 2.

    Great job ISI!

I should've never taken that Brabham out for a spin late last night... Two separate accidents.
The second one wasn't too good on his noggin' I reckon...

I don't think the auto HDR makes HDR profiles completely redundant, because although it does a good job on adjusting everything based on where the track is, it doesn't take local influences into account. So if the weather tends to be 'steamy' at a track, or dusty, or especially hazy/smoggy (that a word? hmm...), a track might still need a custom profile to get that effect happening.

And, you'd think a particular shot at a particular angle might be aided by a certain combination of HDR settings relative to the auto-HDR - even if the auto does a better job overall.

The HDR just take into accounts the light and postFX, not the fog which is affected by the .SCN nor the turbidity which is "hardcoded" to 2.0.

The new system is applying a series of functions, using real geographic data per track, and calculating proper elements in real time. No matter where you're, the automation give you a realtime HDR adjustment to fit that place in that particular time of the day.
