This looks like a cool project, but I noticed a slight flaw in the design. The readout is on the front, but the connected wires (from the Arduino to the board) is on the front side when it should really be on the back side so that you can create a box for the readout board and not have wires sticking out the front. Just an observation.
Today, after a little search again i found this: http://d-s-creations.blogspot.fr/2012/12/news-sli-pro-like-arduino-tm1638-pour.html It's for rfactor 1, GSC, Simraceway and for all the Simbim's title including Raceroom. I tried it and it's working for the GSC and for the simbim's titles. Unfortunately it not working for rfactor 2 yet, but it's a good start. Time to build a nice case for it
After a break from rF2 I've come back to see if there was any other new posts on this. I appreciate that link antgen, I will use that too. Anyone got any news on this? Where can I grab the data output from the sim? I see there is an Android app that displays a dash, I could use the same data. Can anyone help? Cheers.
I used this Arduino display until I gave it to my friend, I'm waiting another one to arrive for me. Anyway, it works with rFactor 2, Assetto Corsa, Dirt 2/3, F1 2012 and some other games too. But it needs to run through X-Sim software which is mostly used for motion rigs but it can be used for dashboards too because it extracts the data from the game. Tronic from X-Sim forum modified Ard code for this display to work with X-Sim, more info can be found here: http://x-sim.de/forum/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=155
I've been looking at those Arduinos when they were dirt cheap. Should have snatched up a few when I was thinking about it.
rFactor Simbin arduino dashboard works with rfactor 1 but not rfactor2, please someone can program for rfactor 2???? help please
Guys you can use X-sim to export data (it has an rFactor 2 plugin)to an Arduino. I'm using it to light up low fuel and water overheat light's at the moment.Works a treat. I've ordered a water temperature and oil temperature gauge off ebay. I'm pretty confident I can make them work with the same software and hardware. If you need details let me know her. I'm subscribing to this thread. [edit: sorry Prodigy didn't read your post properly]
Yes, it works with rFactor 2 and many other games via X-Sim3 software. This was my latest addition I've did 2 days ago, adding function to buttons on dashboard for more details to display. I'm still in "testing the code" mode now but it's pretty much finished and soon I will post instructions. It's pretty nice what this simple 19$ dashboard can do. This is my test with rFactor2 few days ago
Thankfully, Ivan Alvarez made this to work with rfactor 2 (actually not only rf2 but also for rf1, iracing and pcars) with just an arduino sketch. http://www.bsimracing.com/arduino-project-for-the-tm1638-released/#.UX5168ryuNA http://batrako.blogspot.com.es/ I didn't understand if the buttons are working to change "screens"(google translator is very poor) but the main function is working very well(gear display and km/h) Edit: Ivan Alvarez has made a new code that now the first 2 buttons are working to change between km/h and fuel https://mega.co.nz/#!ZpZFxI6Z!AbIFTx4sj0KOq0-GAFDL2XpdOm1UOL2Vg90N7BjsrJA btw this is the case i made View attachment 7566
Next version that i'm preparing & testing now, support mph, but if you want, can add the following line to my arduino code: Vel=round(Vel/1.609); just below of this code: Vel=(TramaSerie[4] << 8)| TramaSerie[3]; now you have Speed in Mph Regards Iván Alvarez
Won't you need to have a 64 bit compatible plugin for anything pass B770? I have all the parts to do this but I'm on hold pending that answer. I'd also like to see a closeup of the pin-out at the display cable. The rest is pretty much self-explanatory. I had it all laid out with jumpers for rFactor but did not realize you had to push a button for the display to go active. The display ribbon is not labeled 1 through 10 in the normal fashion.
I've done some searching today but can't find anything about a 64 but plug in. Still waiting for my parts to be delivered
