After a long time of waiting, to get the program near a finish, i try'd my first race with 15 Ki cars. In first few laps the Ki driv's time's about a qualifying time table, on a green Track. After the first frustrating point i try to get in Race. After 15 Starts i left the Program more frustrated then at any other game or simulation. Hitting from behind, from side to side, blocked in front, and so on. When this is the Game-KI then it can only be working on an old Z80 or C64 Homecomputer. For me there is no KI and i feel another time disappointed by ISI. Aggression on the start is one thing.... stupid acting is what you found inside the singleplayer game. Specialy : Heve you seen that the Ki-cars can't be pushed out of the track without spinning or loosing control? Maybe they are mounted to a Railway.....
Hi, can you give some additional info? Which track and cars, what setting of AI-speed and aggression? You used the german shortcut (KI) instead the english (AI) for artificial intelligence, don`t want to annoy you, just for better understanding. I did the same error some posting before.
AI is not good... and I don't think ISI will spend to much time with it. I have no idea what they are planning for the singleplayer mode. Are there going to be some kind of championship mode at all? Otherwise, why would they bother with the AI? I can imagine online racing is prioritised, rightly. IMO it would be nice to have a good AI and some kind of championship mode. At least I hope some modder(s) could make improvements in the future.
I only race offline and I really enjoy the AI. My settings for LRP and Sebring are AI 98% and Aggression at 28% with the C6R. Usually no more than 8 cars. Are your brake points correct? Are you consistent, i.e. lap times within a second or less of each other? I've had some great battles with the AI on those tracks, clean tough racing. I usually set race length to 30 minutes.
I too enjoy racing the AI and although I`ll do more online in the future, I`d like the AI to have "realistic" behaviour. I had a stonking good race at historic Monza last night with 15 AI, 16 laps and the fight was good... I got the lead after about 9-10 laps and although challenged again after building a small lead I held on for the win... so a good race can definitely be had against the AI as is. They need a bit of work yet maybe as far as proper warm up/warm down laps with regard to speed and grip is concerned as atm they can take off straight out of the pits at top speed on a green track with cold tyres etc, not very realistic imo. Plus they always slow down when they just leave the pits which is a bit off too... why do they do that?
My Race Settings are : Megane_Trophy Track : Portugal DamageMulti : 100% Ai_Strength : 82% Ai_Agression: 70% (what the slider is set for) ISI has no plans for a singleplayer Championship... based on an older Thread of me....but they working on GT3 When you behind a car ad came up on the start finish, and overtake him he will get to hit you from the side... There is no rain on the windshield...and the spray is so thick that you can see nothing...it is more like smoke, white smoke... On there own message they told me, " we are a small development team", so i said why you try to manage another product before the first one is ready and bug free?
I think at the lower AI speeds they are a bit more erratic as its pretty hard to slow them down to 70% and be slow in the same sections you may be in. Quite likely they will just be slower all round but you may be quick into some corners but much slower into others. If your driving good enough to be with them at 100% or more then the AI is more fun to race against and they would be easier to program to be closer to the cars potential then to drive much slower I think. But if your driving is at a level where you need to have AI at 70% speed then your most likely quite erratic and inconsistent too If you race them at closer to the max potential of the car on a track with decent AIW then your pace should be quite close to them. I normally race them at 100-120% track dependent with 100% aggression and get some decent racing from them though they are quite easy to beat on most tracks even at the higher percentages so I like to start at the back or middle of the pack. Its far from being perfect but the AI is not terrible either on a track with well done AI files.
You shouldn't forget to modify the AISmoothLines line in PLR file, default is 1, you must set 3 instead. The AI cars become much more clever and they can overtake themselves from that modification. I agree about green track, AI is much more fast than should be on first laps, when you're still struggling with cold tires and slippery track, they're simply flying on the track. After all, it's a pity to see Simbin Race 07 has a better AI behavior than rF2.
I`ve just had a quick look for that line Satangoss and can`t find it... I can only find something slightly similar: Auto Line Smooth="0" // 1 = fastest line, 2 = inside/outside, 3 = fastest and inside/outside Is that the one?
Well, at Spa, the AI offer me no challenge at all. 120% strengh and I'm 2 seconds faster at the end of the qualification. And my time was 2 seconds slower than my average pole lap. They are remarkably slower than before 60's content update. I'll continue to the race now and see if they can hang on But often they are even slower in the races (if that has not been changed). At monaco, however, they may be better than before. I always had to lower their strengh to 90-95% and I had some hard battles there. But AI most often crash and bouncing in the light posts, or take a swim in the harbour. But maybe that has been improved with the update?
Yeh I think the AI have been improved at Monaco Hedlund... improved to make it through the harbour chicane more than they did before anyway.
From the updates build notes... April 22 – Monaco: – Corrected transparent/invisible building just before entering Casino Square. – AIW work to help AI negotiate the harbor chicane better – Added under horizon shadow caster to try to prevent shadows “hovering” at low sun angles* – Refined HDR/Bloom profile* – Texture refinements to work better with HDR* – Clean-up of various minor visual items*
The other main issue for those that easily beat the AI is that the AI has pretty crappy setups pretty much the user defaults. So if you push your setup and go for your fastest possible speed you will easily beat them, especially on tracks that are high speed and the default setups hit the rev limit plus too much aero drag. If you adjust this then you will blow the air away down straights, I'm sure you dont want to race on the rev limiter all the way around spa or Monza so maybe trying to force a new setup to the aincoukd help a little.
AI Limiter="0.00000" // Range: 0.0 (no limiting) - 1.0 (limiting used to make racing closer but also make more driver differences on flat-out tracks) Found this one turned on while doing some edits... I've set it to zero, as you see here, to see what that does. "Limiting" the AI? For closer racing? I think this might be the source of that inexplicable-feeling not-pushing-hard they do--- the slowing in straights and such.
