I have a very weird wheel problem. I just bought Rfactor 2 and have been trying to do some practice sessions, but it doesn't seem to want to work. It seems to be related with my wheel. My wheel works just fine with the original Rfactor. What happens is the game acts like it has a slow frame rate, but doesn't show it via the fram rate counter. The game slows down, eventually the physics engine breaks down and my car falls through the floor or just simply freezes up. However if I let the computer control my car, nothing wrong happens. What is causing this? My computer is not weak by any means

A couple of shots in the dark:

    1) be sure your CPU is not running at lower clock speed because the system is not able to realize it is running a 3d application.

    2) try disabling Hiperthreading

    Also, what wheel you have?

Some wheels require to edit the line

Skip updates="0" // Apparently some drivers can't handle a quick FFB update rate, so use this hack to skip the given number of updates (0=full update rate, 1=half, 2=one-third, 3=one-quarter, etc.)

located in the [ Force Feedback ] section of the controller.ini.

BTW, ir sounds to me as the wheel is not the guilty, but your system is unable to run in real time.
Seen you have a good PC, my shots in the dark hopefully might be helpful. :)

[EDIT] i have read you have a sidewinder wheel.
Well, try the edit of the controller.ini for first. :)

I'll try the update rate thing on Sunday when I get back to my computer and report back here if it worked or not. Thanks!

It is still having the same problem

My settings show skip updates is = 0.

Disabling FFB suddenly causes it to go back to normal, what within FFB could be causing the problem?

Yes, i missed to write that you have to edit the line, setting the value to 1 (or to 2 or 3) checking what the best value is for you. :)
