Just curious, are VLM still around, I was just wondering if their version of Watkins Gien is still on the go.
I'm sure VLM are still working on their version of the Glen... Till then search for Watkins Glen 0.4e, if you want.
0.4e has a problem. There's an invisible object on the track on the outside of the first turn. If you hit it, it will damage your front end. I actually got wedged on top of it and my wheels were off the ground.
Does anyone know who built the original version? Before 0.4e, before American Stockcar, before Sim Raceway, it was built by someone using Bobs Track Builder. But it does not show up anywhere. It's not in rfactorcentrals.com's list of tracks. It is also available somewhere for AC, but that looks like a conversion from SR.
I have 5 versions of Watkins Glen in rFactor 1 Watkins Glen 48 Watkins Glen 67 Watkins Glen 2.0 Watkins Glen SRW Watkins Glen 1971 (No Inner Loop) the last 2 are prolly no-nos 2.0 has some timing issues the 67 is the gpl version (tanx Bud) I have NO idea where the 48 version comes from but it is, to me, the most interesting. whut ?? I'm . . . I'm . . . I'm not a street racer . . .why would you think that ??
The Glen '48 for rF1 much probably comes from a GPL track made in a project lead by the son of the Watkins Glen races organizer. If it is a straight conversion from GPL it needs at least a complete rework of the race surface. The interesting thing is that the original track layout is still present in the actual roads near the circuit, so some sort of real altimetry should be available plus details are completely visible in google maps. If you go to the Glen don't miss the visit to the National Park and a trip on the old street circuit, as I did in 2013. BTW, do you have a link for the rF1 version? I miss it.
