    Hello guys,

i just want to warn you to trust the ingame fuel consumption calculation when going online at ISI' Special. (F2 @ Palm Beach)

Well, i always add some "reserve" but the calculation doesn't match by far. The online race dures 30 minutes, so it would be a massive disappointement when you run out of fuel 2 or 3 minutes before finish. AND YOU CANT REFUEL!
I've started an online race but i quickly figured out that i wont make it to the finish. Then i did a offline test just because i was curious and i found out that the calculation is 20% to 25% off.

For 30 minutes and an average laptime between 1.06 and 1.10, you need fuel for 28 laps. I've started with fuel:40 for calculated laps:29 (41 is for 30 laps btw)
I run out of fuel at lap 24 respectively minute 27. My setup wasn't that special, slightly less downforce at the rear, gearbox "extra high", slightly less tire pressure. Almost had clean air for all the laps.

The ingame calculation did always a good job for me and as i said before, i always add a few litres, however for this combination i suggest to add 20% at least.

Current Lap | Fuel | for Laps
    -----------------------------
    00 | 40 | 29
    01 | 38 | 28
    02 | 37 | 27
    03 | 35 | 26
    04 | 33 | 24
    05 | 32 | 23
    06 | 30 | 22
    07 | 28 | 21
    08 | 27 | 19
    09 | 25 | 18
    10 | 23 | 17
    11 | 22 | 16
    12 | 20 | 14
    13 | 19 | 13
    14 | 17 | 12
    15 | 16 | 11
    16 | 14 | 10
    17 | 12 | 09
    18 | 11 | 07
    19 | 09 | 06
    20 | 07 | 05
    21 | 06 | 04
    22 | 04 | 02
    23 | 02 | 01
    24 | 01 | 00

    fuel per lap (calculated): 1.37
    fuel per lap (realistic): 1.66
    difference: 21%

Fuel calculation is based on a parameter from the track and the car. This is an approximate value that should always be checked for each combination. I have never relied on the estimation. The best way is always to drive a minimum of 5 laps at least and divide it by the consumption.

Yup, same routine as in rf1, never trust calculations :)

    Thx for the headsup Goerekt.

You should never look at the in-game fuel estimate and take it as an accurate estimation. That's what practice is for. Figure out what you are burning by running several laps, then adjust your race fuel for the start.

I'd use it if it didn't instantly crash the game everytime it's loaded.

DashMeterPRO for android gives fuel consumption to 2 decimal places, trackmap only showed to 1 decimal place(still does?). I stopped using trackmap since DMP has everything I need and more, no need anymore for all the clutter on screen.

Bought a flexible long arm mobile phone holder on ebay to hang my phone above my monitor, works great but you'll need to have a place to clamp it to that will let it reach the position you want it in.
Also have a suction cup phone holder that attaches to the bottom of my monitor and can then see DMP through the gap in my steering wheel, really good also but I prefer to hang it high.

You'd be surprised how much driving style also affects fuel consumption. Same track, same car, same distance, you're likely to find your fuel consumption may vaty from another driver - not much mind you but it does make a difference. Think of it the same way as tire wear - some drivers, both Pro and Sim] have a better 'knack' for conserving tires. The best and most reliable method for figuring out fuel is practice, practice and more practice!
