    Problem description
The in car UI is rendered too closely to the view point origin for some HMDs by default. The reason for this is, that there is a variance in the optimal focus point (focal distance) between different models of HMD, so one default setting for UI distance is inadequate to ensure compatibility with all HMDs in this aspect. This can result in double vision, as well as eye-strain (see further reading).

    Possible solutions

    • Render in car UI further back by default
    • Implement options for VR in car UI distance and scale

    HMD used

Pico Neo 3 Link (focal distance 1.7m)

    Focal distance of various HMDs
    • HP Reverb G2: assumed to be 2m
    • Meta Quest / Quest 2: 1.3m
    • Oculus Rift CV1: assumed to be 2m
    • Pico Neo 3 Link: 1.7m
    • Pico 4: 1.1m
    • Pimax Crystal: 1m
    • Valve Index: "just under 2 meters, or about 6 feet"
    • Varjo Aero: 0.85m
