It would be nice to make "virtual-ride" work in multi-player.

The virtual driver could be downloaded like a custom skin "alt.dds".
You as a league organizer don't have to do anything just setup the server with the cars/tracks you want.
Teams/drivers could enter the server with there car/skin and team name. And not just an alternate car skin.
And you don't have to update/package anything if a new team signs up.

BTW: We tried to use custom "alt.dds" skins. Is good for single drivers. But it doesn't work if you want to do driver swaps. :(

    Thank you!

    it is working.

I've not tested a driver swap with a virtual ride, but everything else is working and transferring.

The guy's who i've been driving with online have a "Gijs van Elderen" AI car with my livery and team name. :)
I also send my setup. So they can assign my setup to my AI car and do practice offline. :D

And the virtual ride uses the default livery's car number. So double car numbers in the XML results file.

Question: There is a GenVehxxxxxx.scn file in the UserData/log folder when you create or receive a virtual ride.
What's the purpose? It think it isn't used at the moment...

I'm having issues with it, for me the virtual team and skin work online, but others see an Unknown Car instead of my teamname.
Server allows skins, driver I spoke about it has it set to ON as well. still unknown car.

    What am I doing wrong?

There should be a red bar under your name (as seen by others) that is loading. Once that completes, everyone will be able to see your team once they exit the server and return.

Hm ok, so a few drivers will grab it during the week practise but the majority in Sunday's main race will see the unknown car as they have not seen me online.

i'll stick with my skin for now and see how it works out, thx Guimengo :)

Jip, the red bar is there when a skin is downloading.
But the red, green, grey squares in front of the driver names are gone.

So i've no clue if my skin is uploaded to the server or who uses a custom skin.

    Solved.

Use one default car and each time you select an alternative skin "reload" it before "Create"

This allows 5 virtual rides per default car to show which allows full grids to be constructed each driver with Talent adjustment all from within the game. Excellent!

I know i am talking to myself here but my virtual rides seem to go randomly missing. There has to be a more stable way of building an AI field of say Historic F2's to race against offline. Anyone got any tips?

I've got 9 virtual rides for the Howston G6 and haven't had a problem.

I've experienced that too, Pilot37. If you create one and doesn't show up, select a different car in a different series, quit the game and then come back.

If you have the rides in already but you don't see in selection menu..... no idea.

    Found the culprit!!!

All your Virtual Rides have to have a different Driver name.

If you have 2 virtual rides from different cars using the same driver name only 1 will show up.
The virtual ride that shows up will be from the first car with your virtual ride in the vehicle list. (if you select "all cars and all tracks")
If you select a series (or a Vmod) It will show the virtual ride. Because the "filter" looks for a virtual ride in the available car list.

    Work around:

If you name the driver name XX YOUR NAME (XX = Car number) You don't have this problem. Use a different car number for a different car.
You can manually edit the .rcd file and skin folder name to do this.

Another thingy with the Virtual Ride in multiplayer.

If you use a Virtual Ride once on a server it gets uploaded to the server.

If you make changes to your livery and login to that same server again.
The skin won't update on the server and other users will see your previous version.

So make sure you're virtual ride is finished before you go online with it. ;)
