During my recent update to latest build (146) and installing of latest ISI mods, I have broken my install. When I try to load the game it gets to the 2nd loading screen and then crashes, Windows message "RFactor 2 has stopped working". Not sure why, but I did have a couple of mods installed, so I am thinking maybe they are the problem. So I figured I need to reinstall. I tried a reinstall, didn't help. I tried an uninstall and then a reinstall, still didn't help. I am guessing I need to uninstall and then delete the rfactor2 folder in My Documents and then reinstall the program and then all the package files. Is that the best thing to try next? Any other advice? The FAQs don't seem to cover a procedure for a full uninstall and reinstall... Thanks!
To clarify, basically I am wanting to know how to do a proper full uninstall. Does a normal uninstall and then deleting the "rfactor2" folder do this? When I uninstalled and reinstalled before, why did the game still think my mods were installed, just because they are in the right location in that folder?
Yes, the "safe mode" is uninstalling rF2 from the in game uninstaller, then placing in a temp folder the rfmod and rfcmp files located in Packages folder (they are just archives and no need to redownload them), then delete the Data folders located in Documents ... so doing you will delete the player too, but i am talking of "safe mode". Safe mode uninstall might ask also for a registry clean up (if you have a trusted cleaner) and the new install in a different folder (for instance i install my public builds in folders named following the issues, my 146 is in "rFactor2 Public 11" folder because 146 is the 11th public release).
Thanks for the quick reply. I have done an uninstall (through Windows control panel), renamed the rfactor2 folder, done a full reinstall and copied my package files back over (the 15 official ISI ones). Seems to have worked so far (game now loads!), though I haven't reinstalled any of the content yet! Surprisingly, when I fire up the launcher, I am logged in straightaway, I assumed I would have to re-verify my copy, how comes I didn't on a supposedly comepletely clean install?! Also, when I do an integrity check in the Launcher I get a lot of "failed" ratings, as below plus pretty much everything in "ModDev" and "Installed" directories. Why is this?!
