Hi all. Is anyone else having problems editing their .plr file? I've unchecked "read-only", edited and then checked "read-only" but as soon as I start rF2 it just replaces the new data with the original. I have only found one other post so far but no ideas as to why or how to fix.

You have leave the 'read only' unchecked.
The file has to be writeable so rF can write the changes to the .plr when you make in game changes.
I dare say that when you checked the 'read only' option something in the rF code loads a default .plr.

Anyway, leave the 'read only' unchecked and you can then modify it to your hearts content and see your changes in game.

my player file is not read only, and it still changes back to default when I load the game ?
my player name in game is ( UNKNOWN) if I delete the file it just generates a new one same as the one I deleted, so it must be saved somewhere else also.

tried eveything, and yes I saved, all I want to do is change my name from unknown, amazing that I can change my nationality in game but not my name, know it`s a minor detail in the grand scheme of things, but still annoying.

To change your name do a search on the rFactor.name file. It's three lines: your first name, last name, and full name (I think that's the format.). Once you change it, save and read-only the file, and you should be set.

If you try and change your name in the *.plr file, it won't keep.

Can you write here how the rFactor.name file should be, thanks
From what I've understand, it should be something like below:
    Michael
    Schumacher
    Michael Schumacher
