Reading the non-championship formula libre race report (30 Jan 1955) from Buenos Aires in the Jun 1955 Autocourse, one learns that Stirling Moss had grabbing brakes that wore the front tires to the cord in 30 laps (first heat) and he placed 3rd. With insufficient time between heats to do serious brake work, Ulenhaut merely filled the front drums with oil to cure the grabbing! Moss won the second heat of 30 laps, but his combined time left him in second place overall to Fangio (2nd in first heat) by 3 seconds.

Can you imagine driving so fast with oiled brakes?!?

...and if you put one of those legends in their car today and replicated the same problems they faced every race I don't think they or anyone else would believe it . :D

Bad enough driving with "good" brakes back then.

Things have changed in motorsports over the last few decades at a rapid pace.
