    Thanks ISI!!

    Edit: Download here: http://rfactor.net/web/rf2/devscorner/
    Tim added this link... ;)

... sorry Tim... didnt mean to steal your thunder ;)... Im just so excited lol

I count 58 Tire files including some bf-g tires which have me curious... outstanding :)

Hmm... I also see some Kart tires in there too... does this really mean I'm going to spend more time in the ttool then playin tonight

Main Folder has ISI tires... designations nicely organized by Maug in post #8
-these are the tires in the game currently

the other folders would then have the other tires that are new...
-will update once I know what they are (ie, someone who knows more about these things than me posts ;) )

Could someone explain just what this means? So there are dozens of types of tyres to fit dozens of types of cars with the correct physics for each built in? I guess this saves lots of modders' development time?

What type of tyres are there?

+1, can we have the associated type of compound.

    Example :
245-660-13x12 Super Soft 2012 = Front Tire Slick Super Soft for LMP1 car (I don't know if it's that)
325-660-13x13.7 Super Soft 2012 = Rear Tire Slick Super Soft for LMP1 car (I don't know if it's that)

    Thank you ISI.

Instead of waiting, you could simply extract them from existing mods :)

Yes, after a check I notice I already have them from ISI mods :(
So what it was expected from ISI was some reference tires relevant to several categories.
So for me If I get and LMP1, LMP2, GT1, GT3, Rally, Nascar, V8 Superars, Daytona Prototype car TGM reference it could be enough.

Lol... I didnt realize they were mostly the tires we had... Ive been using the Marussia Tires for awhile :)
In the folders there are some tires we didnt have so that will take some testing..

or Did we have the kart tires before?

    @MaD_King
For most of your list, you already have:
    21/65-18
    24/65-18
    265-645-18
    285-645-18
    30/65-18
    30/68-18
    31/71-18

The above are beeing used in many GT1, GT2, GT3 and GT4 class cars. Of course I won't cover any car from those classes with that tires...but you can make your own based on those from ISI.
LMP2 were using 30/65 front and 31/71 rear (like the old GT1) so.. there you go!

LMP1 has prototype tyres, wider than those for LMP2 but their construction might not be that different.
V8 tyres have higher sidewall and are softer I think. With NASCAR that might be a problem as those are completly different tyres. For rally... we still don't have "loose" surface simulation in rF 2 so grooved slicks is what you probably would want to use :)

Hmm that is helpful... It may get to the point where mods are released with generic tires and that update comes later... For the mod teams to research and simulate each tire they want is going to be a big effort with the new tech... it may even be an unfair expectation at this point... I think I remember reading it simulates the rim to tire bead connection...

LesiU, Have you spent any time in the ttool?

Yes, I did but not specifically for designing a new tyre. Rather for looking around and see, what the new tyre model (and the tool) can offer.
As for developing our own tyres... I'm not in a hurry as I am waiting for other things to be solved anyway but yes, at some point, as a modder, I will be doing my own tyres for my mods. Who else if not me, should be doing that?
I am not expecting ISI doing tyres for me ;)

ahhh that warms my heart... I'm glad cuz it seems like you have some base knowledge of tires which clearly would be extremely helpful with the complexity of the model.
I agree... part of the fun is learning the tools and the tech and creating something in game ;)

So basically they have just released what we already had.

Anyway, since last build I can't open the tire tool, it gives me an error message; "error creating standard default shader", and it doesn't load...

With about 8-10 extra tires , yes, it seems that way... hopefully more are in the pipeline but it is likely that ISI won't release tires for cars it isnt working on, so a baseline will be all we will ever have and we will have to work up from there.
Which isn't a bad thing necessarily but it does slow things down which usually isn't a good thing when expectations are high :)

We will clean up this thing, I'm trying to get maybe a monthly 'look' at it from the guy who just threw those files at me. :) He's just really not had the time to put into making it a cleaner release of the examples.
