Hi guys, Yesterday I was trying to make the game run smoother on W8 as described in the topic by Buddhatree but it didn't work for me. I tried all kinds off stuff and -as said in that topic- I focussed on the drivers; main board especially. I had the drivers installed already off course, but on the site from Intel, I found some other drivers, the "INF" stuff. That didn't work for me there, it was just a utility that said everything was just fine. Looking further, I found on "guru3d.com" the drivers the Intel site mentioned and installed them; still my W8 doesn't work well, but much better. Here it comes; I tried them in my normal W7 install and got my game running a whole lot better/smoother! It is really a big difference. Not more fps, but just the way the game runs now is a difference like night and day. Now I know for sure; a lot of you guys are banging their knees laughing right now, going "that poor sap, didn't do that at first!", but there might be a few of you, that forgot, didn't think about it or might have thought they came with the normal drivers and for those, making a small topic about this, should be all worth it; we all want to play the game all well as we can get it, right? Hopefully some of you benefit from this and I sure hope, you benefit as well as I did, that would be great. Practically all of you are much more "into this thing" than I, so please don't shoot me if I'm stating the obvious; just trying to help for "those like me"
Yes I can http://downloads.guru3d.com/Intel-Chipset-Software-Installation-9.3.0.1019-download-2855.html
That was fast thnx. As i can see now this download dont support my motherboard, which is intel p45 based. So is this valid anyway?
By "valid" you mean legal? It's just what they offer on the intel site also; they're just drivers, everywhere to download. I have a P5kc board and figured it was the "intel 3 series chipset" that referred to it, so I guess for you, it is the "intel series 4" that counts?
Yes, thnx for explanation. I will try them, when i finally come home next week. I will report if i will not forget
So little late, but sadly i must report that for me nothing really change. But anyway that not mean that by others who has this option to try, will not work.
I run W7 on a "old" P5K Motherboard, 4gb ram, duo 2,7 ATI 1gb 6850 and this driver update did MAGIC to my RF2 experience I now can run 15-20 Ai`s on max settings (env. reflect & crowd anim off ) Thank you for this great tip and link Navigator! It is posts like this that helps everyone like you & me to get the best RF2 experience possible
Here is the actual Intel site version. It is the same one. http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?ProductID=816&DwnldID=20775&lang=eng&iid=dc_rss
Weird, that particular link you provided seems to be for older cpus and NOT for Nehalem, Sandy Bridge or Ivy Bridge processors as series 5,6, and 7 chipsets aren't on the supported chipsets list at the bottom of that page. Maybe that's why it aint helping some people. I'm assuming most people here have Nehalem (series 5) or Sandy Bridge (series 6) chipsets and those each have their own specific infs to download for each one, on their own specific page, and are NOT listed on the supported chipset list of that page you provided.
Nice to see it helped some people; that was the intention. For those that didn't benefit from it; didn't hurt also, right? @ Nand Gate; the red dot means someone isn't very happy with something you posted probably and gave you a negative reputation point. If you go to the black banner on the top of the screen and click "settings", you can see who did that and -if they took the time for it- see some feedback on why they did it. Also you see for with topic/post they gave it.
