    hi,
i am currently woking on some skins, but is really annoyoing to allways start up the game and load a track to just view my changes on the skin.
I tried the 3dSimEd but most of the gmt files are encrypted, so it´s impossible to view the car.

Is there a way to simply just view a car with the given skin in 3d?

You don't have to do it that way. Just launch rf2 and select the car you are working with, click tuning and there's the car.
You can go through skins there and there's even a reload button.
So set rf2 to Windowed for easy in and out and bingo, back and forth between rf2 and photoshop or whatev's

Provided that it works, it doesn't work for me, can't see any custom skins at all, but it should work for you as you are already doing skins.

    hi,
i tried it that way, but the most times the reload button is not working
It does not update the skin, until i restart the game.
Antother problem is that i am not able to rotate the car on the tuning screen, or is there?
I hammered my keyboard, but it seems there is no option for that.

That means if have to restart the game on every change i make to the skin and load a track to navigate around the car to see the skin from every angle.

You don´t get custom skins showing up in the list?
Maybe you forget to name the .dds file right? The end of the filename has to be "ALT" and can´t be longer then a specifyed amount of letters(i beleve it´s around 11 or so)

The reload button works if you name the .dds with different name every time you make changes and save it. E.g. ALTSKIN01.DDS, ALTSKIN02.DDS, ALTSKIN03.DDS etc. ;)

you just need to have 2 skins (.dds) on the folder.
Try to copy your skin and change the name. for example..

Darrter_ALT.dds and Darrter2_ALT.dds. the 2 files on the folder try this.

There are a few different showrooms that you can choose that you CAN rotate car with. Go to 'Customize' then 'Showroom ' tab.

Tried just about everything and was getting help in the paint-guide-thread but to no avail. did everything what was expected and hinted but nothing.
I do auto-download skins from others on servers, can even open them in photoshop etc but it doesn't show in-game.

    But OT, carry on :)

As DJC says, choose a different showroom, one of them allows moving round the car. :)

    best man, thanks.
    never used that showroom tab.
My problem was the showroom was set to screenshot. That´s why i was not able to rotate the car.
