Hi folks! I am slowly up stepping my sim set up and looking for a bigger/faster single monitor. Right now I have a ultra-wide 29" LG monitor which Is alright, but lately I have been thinking of a bigger monitor with faster refresh rate. The thing Is, Is that my actual graphics card Is a Zotac GTX 1070ti which for the most part works great with my PC rig (see sig below). I have been looking at a Samsung Odyssey G5 WQHD 34" monitor, or a AOC 34". The Samsung Is more In my budget range, but I am wondering If my GPU will handle the refresh rate of 165Hz with a res of 3440x1440. Any guidance, help, and/or recommendations will be appreciated. Thanks.
Just to give you an idea, not to mention CPU/RAM constraints etc... My friend RTX 2080 Ti not OC is the minimum for : 1920 * 1080, 100% ultra graphics All day/night transition All rain conditions Great majority of official cars Nurburgring Combined Very small FOV 20 degree (mathematic FOV best of the best recommendation, offtopic) Goal = 75 FPS. Honestly that's fine, but for 992 GT3 cup + rain + sunrise/sunset..... +25% GPU power is really better.......... For only 75 FPS and only 1080p...... 4070 Ti is a monster, slightly better than 3080 Ti and 3090. Perhaps this GPU?
I am afraid the GPU upgrade will have to wait as I don´t have +750€ to spend right now. I am not looking for ultra graphics right now, with my current set-up and on a 29" ultra wide (21:9) I can run any sim with more then decent graphics. Even MSFS 2020 or Star Citizen run fine on my 1070ti (8GB VRAM).
@MikeV710 If you are going more than 29'' inch monitor then you should definitely look for 1440p as minimum resolution. But this comes at cost , now you will need to sacrifice some fps. which is totally fine imho. what you should look for, considering monitor size and your PC specs >> 1440p , 120 hz (any more is not that useful) , look for pixel response time , input delay...and so on. look for reviews on youtube obviously BUT also check videos on how your selected monitor performs in UFO test (https://www.testufo.com/ghosting) also go for IPS panel , i made a mistake going for VA 165 hz monitor and black smear is clearly visible when movement on screen is fast enough (like playing fps games , or driving fast cars in sims etc) monitors Hz is not everything. look how accurate and readable , clear that image is for given Hz that is wayy more important.
Thank you all for you´re help and Input. I decide to go for a Samsung Odyssey G6 32" (2560x1440) QHD @240Hz/1ms. HDR 600. The options this monitor has fills a lot of gaps, with a dedicated OBS, Ethernet/WiFi connections so basically It can be used as a gaming/multimedia hub. It´s a 16:9 ratio monitor so no Issues with ultrawide none supported games, which will also be better for my GPU. Might not be as Immersive as the ultrawide monitors but I am fine with that.
Paired the G6 with a AMD RX 6700 XT, so now It all should work fine at 1440p. Might get some slight bottlenecking from my CPU but nothing to be to alarmed with.
