Silverstone to be Removed From Workshop 25.11.2022

A note on Silverstone

Due to a change in licencing agreements, this Friday, November 25th, Studio 397 have been instructed to remove access to the Silverstone circuit in the rFactor 2 Steam Workshop. We remain exceptionally proud to have offered a high quality, free version of this iconic track for the simulation all these years, and we are certainly as disappointed as you are about this outcome.

Players can still download the circuit until the morning of Friday November 25th, and can continue to use the track within rFactor 2 beyond this date.

While we appreciate this is not the news anyone wanted to hear about this track, we are working very hard to look at alternative options to bring another new, free circuit to the simulation in the very near future. rFactor 2 remains proud to offer a healthy collection of free base content, and remain yet more determined to continue expanding the playing experience with new, exciting and high-profile content in the future.

For what happened: license to have the track expired, so they can't have it as part of the game anymore.

But why?? That's stupid, is that licence that much important for them?? I think S397 should avoid these kind of situations in future, changing contract conditions! Just out of curiosity, did this happen also with AC licence?

I don't think AC's agreement has any relation to rF2.

A license will have a time limit on it, and after that agreement will need to be reached on renewing it. There's never any guarantee that (renewing) will even be offered, or that both sides will agree on the terms.

I think you should look less to blame someone, and look more into license agreements. Hate the game, not the player.

@Trebor901 mate. What a facepalm post. Seriously.

Yeah, i think licence comes from ISI times, 2012 i think...

Anyway i'm not blaming anyone, just don't understand why licences can't be done for game/simulation lifetime, even if at a given time you can't do any more upgrades or changes to the track...

It is what it is..

Hi.
Terrible news.
It's an important track for most S397 cars/carsets. Don't forget to back up your rfcmp for future installs.

Shouldn't MSG have this circuit licensed for the BTCC game?
Maybe this opens the door for an up to date laser scanned version. Don't get me wrong, this old made by ISI track is still great, but every time I drive it I wonder what a LS one by S397 would be like.

Regards.
