The following errors when trying to connect to a server:

    "Data Transfer Timeout"

    or

    "Password Invalid"

May occur because of certain anti-virus software's "Protocol Filtering" settings.

Please follow this link for detailed instructions on setting up "Protocol Filtering" to avoid these errors:

I am currently getting this error when trying to join my own dedicated server but other are able to join. I do not have ESET but have excluded these applications on the virus protection I use and still get the error. Any thing else I may be missing?

Is your dedicated server running on the same machine, on LAN, or are you joining a remote server?

I can't even see my dedicated server on list
tried from 2 different PC's that are plugged into same router

    Turned off all fire walls
Opened all ports that I could find in all rf2 port open instructions

It's just not showing on matchmaker list

    Any ideas ?

    EDIT: Nevermind, problem solved.

I did not race online since june, tonight I've tried to join several servers online and no matter which one, I've got the "No such file or directory" message when trying to download the rfmod.
Basically I'm not able to race online anymore.
    Any idea why this happens?

I've notices that ESET is more than enough strict in some cases about the legit data transferring outside of its control.
In most cases where an application try to connect to another server for receiving or sending data, ESET firewall blocks the connection.
This is not the case with other antiviruses.

Hello i have an issue, i can't connect to my own dedicated server : i always have the Data Transfer Timeout error.

I try both standard dedicated and CMD steam one, i can connect to other server without problem
and also my friends can join my own dedicated server and drive without having the Data Transfer Timeout issue.

Annyone got an idea how to fix it, i can't find any clue on the internet.

    Thanks.

If the maximum number of clients has been reached, the message will also be displayed.
