I'm not sure if you'll get many replies to your question yet. rF2 release need to occur first and when it does, my guess will be that existing established leagues will roll in rF2 when they are ready [as in soon after release]. Best to keep an eye on the leagues you are a member of and if not a member yet, put in the work now to find a league you feel well being a member of. rF1 or rF2 does not make a difference to this aspect.
Yeah if anybody is saying they'll support it right now they are assuming. I don't believe we have released multiplayer specs yet. Which reminds me... I need to remind someone to send me those.
When rfactor 2 is out we all get start to tweak it and test what the limit is what rfactor 2 can do and also how we edit servers best. So no need the spec before the realese that we test best self when it is out,
I just put a new ps in my server, I wouldn't want to put any more money into it if I need to replace it. 10 years old, works great for rF1. Athlon 2200 1.8ghz 1gb ram no gfx card
Just an FYI, I guess this specs will be determined during the open beta. We have a minimum but I doubt any server will even want to be ran that way.
About the OPEN Beta and Dedicated Server files... Will we have the opportunity to host the beta on our own server? I'm running a multi core server machine so I'm not too concerned over resource power but have to get with the server's host on getting the files on to the server machine if its something we can do. Sometimes open BETA game servers are hosted only by the company until retail release so this is why I ask. Thank You!
This question is for Tim Wheatley: What are hosting companies going to need to do to be in compliance with ISI's policies to have the ability to offer RF2 to our client base. I look forward to your response Tim Dave NRT Game Servers dstanley@nrtservers.com
Dave, you do not need any license to host a server and make money from it serving the community. LIcensing would be required if you were using rF2 at a trade show to sell your product/someone else's product, or packaging rF2 with your product. You can email me for more info: timw@imagespaceinc.com
I believe that the TCP/UPD ports for hosting servers are already set? If so, would it be possible to share them already? People could get their routers and firewalls ready. Btw: can the dedicated server be run on a windows 2008 server? cheers
