Released rFactor 2 Q4 Release Candidate - New Online Experience

This is without doubt the most drama-centric community I've met on internet. Even though there's lots of drama on internet everywhere.

I don't know, if it is only me, but the daily driver races are not working acc. to me.
From 10 times, I am loosing 8 times the connection and if I see, that others are also leaving the server and coming back, I would say, it is a server / game issue. Makes no fun to attend anymore.

I've never lost connection. Maybe it depends on your route to the servers. You could ask on Discord.

Maybe set your network bandwith to something more appropriate. Even if you have 1 Gbps on upload don't set it to that value in rF2 settings.

It only happenned to.me when I was on WiFi, it has to be something on your side because it's not being massively reported.

20 Mbit/s / 20 Mbit/s
Available 750 Mbit/s / 75 Mbit/s (download / upload)
Cable connection and it is very stable.
PS: Ask Max V. why he stopped to play rFactor2

That's an asymmetrical connection. You might be limited by your upload rate, maybe even less. I would make sure nothing heavy is using the line.

Max is an iFanboy. He has had more issues with iRaffling but he doesn't complain then. Are you trying to fix your issues or came here only to talk about him?

Just to clarify something here. If a client says to the server "I can use X up and Y down" that does not mean the server will actually send that much data to the client. In fact, the server mostly dictates what gets sent by means of the bandwidth limits you configure for it and probably that limit is lower than what clients on modern connections have configured. Still the advice to stay well below the theoretical speeds of your connection is a good one. Configure it so even if your network is busy with other people using it, the bandwidth you set can still be pretty much guaranteed. If not, your connection will choke, which is way worse than it not sending/receiving a lot of data.

Thx for your feedback Marcel. Clarified something, but if it will help, we will see.
I am loosing also the connection if I am alone online at home.
Anyhow, therefore I assume as I understood you correctly the server can/will be also the bottle neck.
If I remember me correctly at the last daily races, all drives which had a lap time lost the connection and I don't think the leader will leave the session from his choice. Hope this feedback to you helps also.

I'll assume that the developers at Studio 397 are reading along to see if they can diagnose the issue, but these are very difficult issues to find and it is not at all clear if the cause is something in the rFactor 2 software at all, or something in the many network and virtualization layers in between.

I am thinking in the same and I don't say it is easy, but you know, each game get's a bad mind, if it happens to often, therefore I make a comment, that they are aware that players have a problem. I will not go away from rFactor. I love it and I use it more then 10 years and also at ISI's beginning time periode.
Hope that some responsible admin will read it and note it and do something.
Further I don't hope that their is an issue with the new game Le Mans.
Thx again for understanding and to your pretty well professional comments.

Funny thing, my team mate in simracing told me, that he loose every time before the race starts the connection to the server.
We never talked about this, he came to me.
Something is wrong with the server (80%) acc. to me.

What's an ideal network setting for stability? I have a pretty average connection (16mb down 0.7mb up on wifi) and I have no problems when connected by ethernet, but I do get some disconnections on certain servers on WiFi.
