@ with each delivery, all_vehicules.ini is updated for cars that have evolved so we lose our personal settings for ffb tuning, for example (FFBSteeringTorqueMult=1.000) do you have a tool that compares an old all_vehicles.ini file with the new all_vehicles.ini file, so that we can compare changes to FFBSteeringTorqueMult, for example? Thanks
There are many tools on the web, both for local and online use. I use a program called FilesCompare. If you can't find it, ask me privately, it's freeware.
the problem is that the car identifiers have changed between the old version of the all_vehicules.ini file and the new file, and the comparison tools do not exploit this as they should. it should be possible to compare the before/after for each car name
@Herve_Versabeau I can try to write such a Tool, but there is a Problem with the Webspace that i use, that has some Limitations. There, for Example, is a Limitation of 1000 Input Variables only and also the max. Execution Time for a Script, is limited to 12 s. So i'll have to try it out, if it works. What will be impossible for sure on that Webspace, is to compare each single Car. And when i do it per Car Model, it also is a Problem, when there are 2 Cars of the same Type, that have different Values, because i can not automatically decide which Values shall be used then. What is your biggest (KB) all_vehicles.ini?
That is not so big, yes. If you only want to get the Settings of an "old" File, you can use the already existing Tool. It shows the Settings for all Vehicles of the same Class. So you can see which Settings you did use.
Best way to use the tool to update the all_vehicles.ini is to first delete it ... This file is sometimes kind of corrupted imo, and keeps obsolete data with unreferenced cars. That is part of my "Clean rF2" process. I remove it with all the mods, .cch files, etc ... When you restart rF2 it will produce a proper all_vehicles.ini. Then use the redapg too to update it. My all_vehicles.ini is under git and i see its updates ... I can restore previous data easilly on some parts.
Sorry, but no, don't delete it. Rename it or remove it from the Installation, to back it up and keep the Access to your Settings.
Yes, you're right. I was a bit extreme and joking ... But i think it is good to remove it at some point, redo the settings when you use the car in one skin. Update it with the tool, and so on ... Then, after that, keep it or track it with an history tool, like git, winmerge or that kind of software and merge new data and eventually remove obsolete one. By the way, the obsolete ones can just be a workshop content you unsubscribed, and maybe want to keep it. That's why the game accumulates them ... and is probably right to do so. My .ini had 17300 lines at some point. I removed it totally and redid all cars as i use them along the way.
