Hi. I've been driving a Brabham around Spa, and when I'm not crashing I rather enjoy it.

But the replay overlay items are positioned wrongly for my 4:3 (1600 x 1200) monitor:
    overlay.jpg

The game's assuming a 16:9 resolution because the total height of that overlay is 900.

Another build of rf2 but this problem persists. I can't be the only one affected.

I know no-one can expect special treatment but this would be very easy to sort out. If it's fixed I'll post a link to a puppy video. Yes, that's what I said.

    I also use a 4:3 Resolution.
But i simply hit "Enter" to get rid of the Overlay when viewing or recording from Replays.

This is a HUD problem yes? not a screen problem.

Have you tried changing HUD? or even use a 3rd party one?
Also are there HUD-entries in the plr file to be altered?

(I'm only helping because of the puppy video btw)

I tried the Black Carbon UI and got this:
    bcreplay.jpg

Even though I'm not getting a full screen it's an improvement because at least the 'video' and controls don't contradict each other. And GPL was letterboxed before widescreen was even a thing. The only drawback here is that the video's aspect ratio is wrong.

I do suspect that the Layout of the Replay-Overlay is wanted to look as it looks.
I fear that you would have to create a complete new UI-component to get it like you want it.
You would need new Textures and also redefine the Position of e.g. the Controls...

I don't know if there is something like the HUD-Editor in Devmode, available for the UI, that would help a lot, to create an own one.

The menu and overlay are 16:9 native ever since the new UI release. To deal with that there is a hax parameter "stretch UI" under Options - Video Res. Enabling that might solve your problem.

It's almost there. The interface becomes stretched vertically (from 960 to 1200), and that puts the replay controls in the right place, but the vertical stretching doesn't look good.

Very nearly there. Here's a full sized screenshot:

It's good enough for creating the puppy Video, or do you want to have the last few Pixels get closed?

I'll update and give it the rest then. :)

I decided to have a go at tweaking it myself. I don't know if I did it comepletely right (versioning and other data) but the files all seem to work.

I'm grateful for your advice. I thought the UI was solely for the menus and not for the 3d things.

And did I say something about a puppy video?

    Yes I did:

And as a bonus here he is 5 years later (the black dog here isn't the one in the first video) :

Back to topic. I'm back to rF2 afer long time and I have to say that is not only UI thing. If you have any other aspect ratio than 16:9 there are more elements affected by this. Namely virtual mirrors - set 4:3 resolution and look how low from top of the screen they appear. It's definitely a bug. Next - try CTRL+F (fps counter): it's no longer in top-right corner of the screen but way below. It's pretty annoying to have a hardcoded 16:9 view of this elements. Some builds earlier this problem was non-existing.
