Is it possible? Lets say for Eve MS7? I know how to make a skin and make it work but I really would like something more, like modifying steering wheel and dash (not the 3d model, just the badges). BTW I know how to extract the wheel file, MS7_WHEEL.DDS, I located it, repainted it, didnt rename it. I made a mas file with only this dds file inside, named the mas file NIKOSALT, put it in the appropriate folder in UserData/player/Settings, I go to TUNING, NIKOSALT is there, I select it, but ingame all I have is the old wheel. I understand that maybe this is a naive approach, is there one that works?
The only way I know how to do it, probably makes all the cars have that steering wheel and more important; you would have to make a new rfcmp, thus a new mod. You won't be able to join stock servers online. As I recall; you don't want that, right? If it's all the same to you; I can help you out.
Navigator is right... I think even when you name it the same, the server is checking the mas and every gmt for differences.
Thanks both. Yes Wim, I want a solution that can be had at the servers for individual players, not all. I would like to have a Ferrari badge for a Ferrari skin etc. Well, if it cant been done it cant be done. I hope ISI could find a solution at this though.
If you get the suggestion in to a mod maker, they could make that change. like a helmet or driver. should be pretty straight forward, only thing I wonder about would be animation and steering wheel movement. I'll be dealing with it soon enough in my mod, I'll make a note and give it a try when that time comes. Will be a while though, if anyone else wants to try, I'm interested in knowing how it works out.
Take a look into the .veh file. If the is a line like "Extra7="SW" // steering wheel" you only need to rename your steering wheel NIKOSALT_SW. And then put everything together into a mas called NIKOSALT.mas. Then it should work.
Do I put all files inside original mas to the new mas? It shouldnt affect movement, it is just a change of the image
Nikos, if you change the original mas, the rfcmp will be invalid and gives you problems online. You will need to repack the rfcmp to not get an invalid one, but this gives you the same problem online; mismatch. Be advised.
You do a mas containing NIKOSALT.dds NIKOSALT_SW.dss NIKOSALT_driver.dds NIKOSALT_helmet.dds and name it NIKOSALT.mas. Then you can use the mas with skin transfer on the server. You just need to select it in the tuning menu. Edit: But this only works if it supported by the car.
Like the custom skins into the user data of the car. Example: ...\UserData\player\Settings\N24 Camaro\N24_CAMARO_05
I think this needs to be written specifically into each mod, they would need to have placed their Mas in the user folder with a wildcard. It's a great idea. Where did you see this Wishmaster oh granter of wishes. Duh... is it the Camaro? I'll go look.
On which car have you tried it? If its no isi car please give me a link. Then i can take a look into it.
I tried it in my mod, but I think I know what I did wrong. I found that the model/gmt needs to have extra name on gmt texture. Going to try soon. Thanks... I think it will work, I was at first thinking we were talking about changing steering wheel. the model itself. That's what I really want.
Then you need to make all gmts/models available with the upgrade.ini. Then you can select a diffrent steering wheel in the tuning menu.
O.O I need to be working and the Wishmaster is making Magic... Making me want to run and play in the model. That's awesome. Sounds like it will work. Thanks for the info.
When you do this, you have to alter the graphics.gen and thus the mod. I suppose Nikos wants to use this in a league and so; all the league members have to play that particular mod. Maybe not that bad if everyone first makes for himself what he wants, make a complete set of upgrades and fit that one in.
