Thanks for that ...

Server keys = ServerLock.bin ? The file we needed to "unlock" when using paid content ?

What was wrong with the previous behavior ?

I'm not sure if I had the new RC v6 yet, but at the Test Server I had the Hyundai BTCC car and the driver names were not visible from inside the car. Exterior views showed the labels, just not inside.
Reading the Known Issues again that would indicate I was indeed using the latest RC.

Bit of a cheat on the issue of uninstalling old versions of content. You go into the Content Mgr UI, it now shows for example only 2 versions of the Aston Martin GT3 (3.52/3.53) and it did do a bit of apparent uninstalling on startup of the game. However, you go into the actual folders, then there exist still folders for 1.87 and 3.51, with 50Mb car-upgrade.MAS files in them. So it doesn't really clean up. ModMgr only shows the 3.53 car-upgrade.MAS file.

Local content is not getting uninstalled on start anymore, good.
Content packs are no longer listed in the store content, good.
The UI freeze on start is not there anymore, good.

Still can't see my own content that is not available in the store, e.g. core Kart Sim content and Monaco track, which means I cannot reinstall it after uninstalling.

I have now lees content manager issues, but there are still mods in pending update status while there are no updates to install. Before they were maybe 15-20 mods.

They are:
I've tried:
  1. unsubscribe these mods
  2. restart rF2
  3. check that no mods pending updates
  4. stop rF2
  5. subscribe again
  6. start rF2

These two mods are pending update again. Clicking "Finish pending updates" shows "Checking pending updates..." but leaves these mods unchanged. They're in the pending updates tab with an orange V.

The tracks are available in the game, the car isn't.

I experienced similar behavior from rf2 when trying to uninstall content yesterday. I wanted to install the necessary content to try RC5, but my SSD was full:) Hence I unsubscribed from many items not needed, but they all remained, folders and files, within the installed folder. I had to remove them manually via the explorer.

The Modmgr has disappeared from my bin64 folder. It also isn't in any other folder. Is this part of the RC update?

As Bernat sort of implied, no, definitely not part of the RC. Maybe you have antivirus or similar that decided to quarantine it. Verifying rF2 files in steam should restore it - still in the Bin64 folder.

Mine stopped werking about a 3 weeks ago, so I deleted all the rcd files (lots that just take up space never getting used) and did verify files, fixed my problem. Just as Lazza suggested, simples.

Is the plan still to move into Production on the 21st?

I’ve got a tough choice with a league starting later today - we went with the RC path on the basis that Production would switch this week anyway but at the ‘last minute’ (ok, I took my eye off the ball this weekend and didn’t spot RC6 coming out on Friday) I’ve either got to update the dedi and hope it works or mandate a rollback or RC5 for our clients…

Supplementary question: I've just connected an RC6 client successfully to our server without updating it. Reading through the changes, on the server side is it just the Keys change - and so I don't really need to update it today?

The rF2 build reflects compatibility. The RC is build 1132, I think it would be updated if they actually changed something that affected online compatibility. So all these RC updates don't actually indicate a change in how the server and client communicate, it's about bug fixes (mainly client). You don't need to update the server in this case, and you don't need new keys unless the DLC changes.

Thanks, that did it. It also re-installed some other files from the Bin64 folder that were missing too, and which I didn't even realize untill I saw them re-installed.

I had problem with workshop content list items missing their names. There 5 items, two of them can be installed from workshop and three was deleted, but still available in game. I tried to uninstall content that not available anymore from workshop but two available tracks still without name in content list. I also tried to unsubscribe and subscribe again with no luck.
