My cpu has finally died after 6-7 years of good service. How much of an upgrade will I see in terms of gameplay? At the moment (q8200) if I have more that 8 drivers on oval tracks (all I really race) I get drivers jumping due to cpu maxing out. How much would this be solved with the upgrade? Would I see any fps increase? I will also be going from 4gb 800mhz ram to 8gb 1600mhz ram. Gpu is 750ti oc'd. Cheers guys.
The AI jumping should be completely solved by CPU upgrade. You can verify this by pressing Ctrl+C and read the purple bar, if it is maxed out during stutters it is 100% CPU issue. Compared to i5 2500k you might not see much improvement though unless you add a lot of AI. I still use first generation i5 and my FPS depends mostly on GPU. Development in CPU market has been quite slow over the last 2-3 years.
Cheers, looking around further what would you guys think of a 6300 fx or i5 3300. All are with 8gb 1600mhz ram and the two Intel's have very basic mobos but the and has a gamer/oc one. 2500k=£150 6300fx=£125 3300=£99 These are prices just for mobo, cou and ram. Got everything else from old PC.
