what are the proper units for modeling and importing into both 3DMax and rFactor2?

I'm getting issues where my models are life sized but when importing into max they are very small or very large when imported. I'm thinking many people who are having issues getting models into the game are actually getting the gmt in the game but it's so large they can't see it in the showroom. or it's so small it's a match box. if the showroom would autoscale it's view this problem would be negated.

so anyway what units to use when modeling and importing into rFactor2 and Max?

1 unit=1m. you can use inches or cm in your work space, that part doesn't matter. Just as long as the System units setup says 1 unit = 1m, then it will be the right scale.

Tip, right click on the snap toggle button and set user grid to 1m.

Hi, yeh, when I get to 'Now, the new car should now be visible in game.' it is not visible.
No test_car#1, only rTrainer#1 and rTrainer#2 are visible.

Is the showroom loaded and there is no car, is the showroom white or can't you even select your car?

at the bottom of the .veh file there is some team info... fill that in with your own fake team info. this will put your car in the list for the show room.

    My car not selectable.
There are 7 lines that have the word 'team' at the end of the .veh file. None of this is mentioned in the workflow tutorial BTW.
I will try to edit the team info.

    Tried again, but still nothing.
The only way I have managed to see test_car#1 is by editing the rTrainer itself, but I cant seem to get my own test_car folder to show up, as a third choice, alongside rTrainer#1 and rTrainer#2
    I'm foxed.... : l

at the end of the first tut you should have the cube under a second rTrainer #1 in the selection menu, that's if you didn't delete the proper #2 cars and files as you should have. if you have not created the proper maps folder with your exported content from the mas file you may also have issue. come on into our ts and let's see where you're at.

Hey thanks for your help, I still have not figured out the exact reasons for my 'workflow tutorial' failures, and would like to know why, when following the official tutorial, I got 0 results.

ok I've been finding that when building your model in inches, when importing into max you need to "replace entire scene" and "convert units" then export as normal... this should bring the model in at the right size.
